Hi everyone, appreciate the continued conversation here. Please bear in mind while a solution may not solve what you're in need of, it's generally offered from a good place, where everyone is trying to help one another.
As noted earlier there are a couple of existing options that some may be able to make use of like;
- Using Billable expenses to mark items of your bills as an on charge to your customer which can be easily added when the invoice is created for the customer later on, or
- Perhaps entering the invoice first, and then copying the invoice to a bill
We totally get some users find this second option useful and it's not quite available within the new invoicing experience just yet. There is a specific idea for this that I'd encourage you to join and follow for any updates as we're continuing to develop the new experience.

Hi team, coming back to this idea, while not in the Sales by Item report, you can run the Inventory Item Detail report. You'll find you can add a Contact column and Group by Item name to get the view you're after here.

Hi everyone, we appreciate your continued input and feedback on this feature here. Being able to copy to purchase orders and bills is something our team are monitoring feedback of closely and very much across the this idea, however there are a few other priority pieces of work that are currently of focus.
Right now, it is still possible to copy an invoice to a purchase order or bill from the list views(Draft, Awaiting approval, Awaiting Payment or Paid tabs). You'll find you can select the invoice/s and click 'Copy to...' - You can find out more detail and ways of doing things within new invoicing through our guide on Xero Central.
We'll keep you in the know here of any progress or updates for this feature.

It's simple, we are business owners and we have to make quick decisions and actions.
Therefore we need to have at a glance how much we have in sales to date.
A quick view of how much we have sold, that information is not at hand.
