Thanks for your feedback about setting working days for part-time employees, everyone.
We’re pleased to share that working patterns are now in development, with the first release planned for later this year.
You’ll be able to set a one-week work pattern for each employee, which will automatically be used for leave and public holiday calculations in the pay run. For this first release, you’ll still need to update the employee’s pay template separately to reflect their standard working hours.
We plan to build on this by connecting working patterns with standard hours in the pay run and supporting a broader range of working patterns. We’ll share another update as the release gets closer.

Confused as to why cosmetic changes to the home page (recent rollout) takes priority over a crucial functional change we have been asking for for 3 years!! That is, being able to specify working days/hours for part-timers so that we do not have to make manual adjustments each time there is a public holiday!

I cannnot believe that this is not on your road map for Australia while it is available in other countries. This is such a time consuming task and prone to error especially as we now come to the Christmas / New Year period. Can you stop with rolling out "new looks" and give us what we actually need.

Hi everyone, thanks for your continued feedback about managing working patterns for part-time employees.
We’re pleased to share that we plan to begin rolling out working patterns in AU Payroll later this year.
The first release will allow you to set a one-week work pattern for each employee. This pattern will automatically be used for leave and public holiday calculations in the pay run. At this stage, you’ll still need to update the employee’s pay template separately to reflect their standard working hours.
We plan to build on this foundation by connecting working patterns with standard hours in the pay run and supporting a broader range of working patterns. We’ll share more details as the first release gets closer.

Why is Xero not responding to these comments. If the function is available in NZ, is there any plan to roll out in Australia?

I agree Daniel, Xero seems to be ignoring our feedback. Can I ask which you are moving too?

Agree. Every time there is a public holiday we have to go in an manually adjust the payslips of everyone who does not work a standard week. The Christmas / New Year period was a nightmare

It's beyond my comprehension that Xero refuse to implement this feature (set working days/hours for PT employees in payroll) that was first requested 3.5 years ago, has many customers crying out for it and is available in Xero overseas. With single touch payroll it is more imprtant than ever. The last response from David Reynolds (Xero Admin) in Nov 2025 is completely inadequate. Perhaps they are answering to another master?
