Hi community, thanks for your engagement and sharing your feedback on assigning billable expenses with us here.

We're in the process of developing a new experience for the individual bill Edit page, that'll make this process much simpler! Rather than a separate action Assigning to a customer or project will be an additional column within the table of your bills from which you can simply click, search and select.

Recently we also rolled. out an update to the Table so you can now drag contents of one cell up or down the a column, meaning if multiple rows of your bill need to be assigned to the same customer you can quickly fill this detail in without having to select in each row.

These features are already available when working with bills using the quick view(eye icon) on the list, but I'll return to confirm once the individual bills page…

The existing function of assigning bills/expenses to a customer has too many unnecessary steps. This has been raised in other suggestions dating back to 2023, but as it is now 2025 best to update to a new case.

    The steps today:
    1. Open bill/expense
    2. Click on "assign to customer"
    3. Select customer, you cant use the drop down until you type (part of) a name
    4. Select an expense even though it already shows in the window (remember, we were already in the expense in step 1)
    5. Click on assign to customer
    6. Click on ok.

If you select the customer and click OK, it will not be assigned as you missed step 4 and 5. It is not intuitive at all. 1, 2 3 and simply click OK should be more logical.
