Thanks for your feedback on the recent update of the payment section on an invoice. I've made sure to share this back with our product team and we will keep you updated if there is any further updates planned around the reference behaviour you've described, here.
Also appreciate that users that are making multiple payments would like to stay within the invoice and we have a separate idea for this here that we'll share any updates through.

Hi everyone, thanks for being a part of the conversation on filtering Profit and Loss reports by contact. We understand how this could make digging into profitability a bit easier.
There is currently the Income & Expenses by Contact report that’ll show where you’ve incurred expenses or received income or funds for each contact. You could also Group or Filter this report by contact with the ability to drill down to the transactions related to each amount.
Alternatively, some people in the discussion have also kindly shared their method which may help others.
Our product team has reviewed this idea, and while this may be a development we consider in the longer term it isn’t roadmapped at this stage. We’ll continue to keep an ear on the ground here and share if there are any updates.

This would be ideal. We have a ton of construction clients and service clients and the ability to edit an invoice after a payment is applied is very critical. To maintain financial accuracy I do understand. To go along those lines, why do I need to remove a payment from a closed year to edit the invoice.
Example which is real life and ongoing right now: Project started in December, they do not want to use change orders and want to use one invoice. I now have to undo all payments back to December to edit the invoice when 2025 is closed. Please consider the ability to edit an invoice once a payment has been applied.
