Hey everyone, thank you for all your feedback. We’re on a long journey to provide more granular access and controls within Xero features that our customers need.

As you may have seen in some of our recent updates across other user roles ideas we’re currently in the process of adding more permissions within Reporting and Inventory. Further to this our research has highlighted Payroll and Banking as areas that more controls are most needed, and are on our agenda as we continue to develop permissions and access to features.

Your feedback here and through direct engagements with our teams have been extremely insightful, and we appreciate all your inputs.

I'll continue to provide updates on the development of roles for features as we progress.

We need the ability to give users access to specific reports only—for example, Debtors/Aged Receivables and customer invoice reports—while preventing access to sensitive management reports such as Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and bank-related reports.

At present, the “View and run reports” permission is all-or-nothing, which means staff either see every report or cannot access the debtor reports they need. Granular, report-level permissions would allow businesses to delegate day-to-day finance tasks safely while protecting confidential financial information.

Heya team, we're now actively testing how reports could be grouped and accessed, and we'd love your input in this, so we can design a better report grouping structure that supports role-based access in reporting.

Get involved! Complete a quick 15-min online activity to test how reports are grouped and accessed:

    • Part 1: answer questions about the current report grouping
    • Part 2: explores a new grouping and role-based report access

👉 If you're interested, please go through the link here.

Thanks again for your support and contributions to developing a solution that works best for majority of our customers!

(Just to note - If you’ve already gone through this activity, there's no need to do it again — our researchers may have contacted you earlier 😊)
