Xero: Support for SAF-T and SIE files
SIE files and SAF-T files are international standards for electronic exchange of accounting data and should, as soon as possible, be included in Xero as a digital application.

Account transaction report | Grouping - Ability to show opening & closing balances
Reporting - Account Transactions - Group by Contact Group - Aged Receivable Transactions
When I run the Account Transactions new report with Grouping as Contact Group, the option to add opening and closing balances is blocked. Is it possible to enable this so that we can use the report in lieu of a monthly activity statement for the Group.

Chart of Accounts: Ability to merge accounts
I would like to be able to merge accounts (of the same type, ie expenses) to one account when there was two or more of the same account created.
Example: Say you've converted from another accounting system, and there were sub-accounts that are all the same account - that you want to merge into one account. To be able to merge the accounts - without doing a Find and recode.
Or, the client opened another expense account for something, and one already existed... to be able to merge the two would be a quicker solution instead of find and recode.
48 votesHi everyone, while we appreciate the interest in this idea we want to be upfront that there are no plans for adding the ability to merge accounts within the Chart of Accounts right now.
Though noted in the original idea here I wanted to confirm that currently if you have the advisor role in the organisation there is the Find & Recode feature that with careful use could enable you to find and recode all transactions from one account to another so you can move all the transactions into one account before archiving or deleting the accounts you don't need.
Alternatively, while it won't suit all use cases in relation to reporting - In financial reports, where you have multiple related accounts you could edit the layout to group these accounts.
We'll continue to gauge the interest in this idea, and if there is any change we'll share with…

Dashboard - Add aged debtor watch list to Dashboard
It would be good to have the ability to add a customer watchlist to the dashboard so that businesses can see when customers have overdue invoices or reached their credit limits so credit credit control can be improved. I personally don't like the email reminders as that doesn't work for our business model so I feel like a watchlist on the dashboard would be good.

Invoices - Show total amount as text instead of numericals
To add total amount on invoices to show as word form, instead of as numbers.
Purpose: For person who like to issue cheque, they can follow the wording amount on the sale invoice

Reports - Add BAS reporting
Being able to click on the summary page to show what is entered in that field would be good or a drop down box on the BAS summary page. Having to scroll through sales to get to the expenses is time consuming.

Reports - Information from GST report added automatically to bills
When generating an Activity Statement for the GST wouldn't it be great if the information is automatically added to the Bills you need to pay?
This way a person won't forget to pay their GST payment and can even easily include a default date that it has to be paid by

Invoices - Autofill customer fields
Make the Customer Field AutoFill in new invoicing
In the old invoicing - which by the way was must better and more reliable, the customer field would autofill if it was setup to autofill within the customer set up. With the new invoicing this field no longer autofills. Please Fix

Reconciliation - show the full statement line
The most important information in the statement line is usually at the end of it, the bit that is always hidden. I've been asking for this since 2019. Its a bit frustrating to see that the statement lines in the Reconciliation tab are now showing some kind of machine-generated guess about what the purchase is, when people have been asking for ages for the full statement line to be shown. Can anyone explain why Xero is so reluctant to do this simple thing?

Reports - Add "Transaction Modified Date" column in Reports
In Account Transactions reports, you should be able to add a column for "modified date". This would be extremely helpful when reconciling between information submitted to HMRC and the information in the nominal. I am no QuickBooks fan, but this is one feature that they have that Xero does not.

Bank Feeds - Bank feeds for WesBank loan
I'd like to request the integration of a WesBank loan feed, similar to the bank feed functionality. This addition would significantly improve efficiency in managing loan transactions within Xero.

Payments - Future dated remittance
Be able to send a remittance for a future payment. Currently you can only send remittances a day after the payment has been made when the bank feed has been updated. We have suppliers who wont process our payments without a remittance meaning we run the risk of our account being stopped or alternatively we have to generate a remittance using word which is just duplicating work.
You should be able to generate a remittance for any payment set up and not have to wait 24 hours after the payment is released form the bank account.

Chart of Account - Ability to change bank a different account type
Ability to change a bank account to a different account type. e.g. A bank account that should be an equity type was added as a bank. To resolve this requires adding a new equity account type, transfer the bank account balance and archiving the old account. These could be avoided if we are able to change the account type in the COA.

GST Late Claims Carry Forward and Selection Option
Currently a Xero customer can chose to include or exclude late claims in a GST Return. What most Xero customers don’t appreciate is if they chose no then the late claim adjustment vanishes until their accountant prepares the year end reports. This can leave a client vulnerable and oblivious to significant errors over the course of a year. In my opinion at the vary least if a client says no then the late claims should be progressed to the next GST period. Bank Reconciliation - Discuss Tab - Change to a chat module to show User and date
The Discuss Tab should have a history trail showing the user and date that a comment was submitted.
Also registered comments should not be editable or removed once submitted. The ideal situation would be if the tab took on the functionality of a chat system also allowing to tag a user of that particular company in a discussion prompting a notification to the user.
Once a transaction is processed, the notes should be attached to the transaction in the history and notes section for future reference.

Bank Reconciliation - Remember Search details in Statement and Account transaction pages
If you go to the bank transaction page and search for a word then click one of search results then go back on your browser, the previous page has forgotten your search. It should remember the search, quite a few other sections do this but not the bank statements page

Hiding archived accounts from chart of accounts list when customising report layouts, perhaps with a tick box to show or hide the archived accounts. It makes the job of customising layouts so tedious when the old messy chart of accounts come up every time and you can’t hide the archived accounts!

Reporting - Edit file name when exporting
Ability to change the file name when exporting reports
When exporting reports, it defaults to Company name_Report Name.pdf. We have a format of naming files in our business which does not match the default format. It would be simpler to be able to change the default file exporting system so that it more closely fits our standards, saving time. This could be added into the company settings. Options include: Report should say: Text [placeholder] Text [placeholder], and "include or exclude underscore".
Options for placeholders include date printed, company name, report name, etc.80 votes
