Subscription Option - Multi-currency as an add on
Add the option for multi currency to other subscription types.
Currently the only way to use multi-currency is to upgrade to the Xero Established/Premium or Ultimate pricing plan. For a sole trader that doesn't need all the extra features of those plans, that is a minimum price increase of over double the starter plan.

I have a micro business who needs to invoice in Euros now and potentially in other currencies in the future. I don't need all the bells and whistles of a premium or ultimate plan.

In Singapore, Quickbooks is half the price to get multi-currency...

I second this! Would be ideal to be able to add all my recurring expenses and bills without having to pay an extra AUD 50 per month for it.

Although I initially supported this Product Idea, and personally both subscribe to a M/C plan and operate foreign-domiciled bank accounts, I have learned through experience and the wisdom of others that it is not necessary to have the multi-currency functionality in order to reconcile FX Spend/Receive money transactions that arrive via a base currency bank feed... or to specify the currency of an invoice to be issued. If cost is an issue, it is important to determine whether your use-case REALLY requires M/C. We also need to acknowledge that the "real-time" exchange rate functionality that M/C provides comes via XE.com, and that Xero have to pay for this.

So based on the new Australian pricing plans, it is going to cost me $660 a year so that I can raise about 10 foreign currency invoices. That makes no commercial sense at all

Unbelievable. Customers are pointing red hot issues.. not only you ignore them but you’re actually increasing the prices in July. Ofc multi-currency is still behind a $90 monthly paywall.. Cherry on the cake, you made sure a starter plan can’t purchase any add-on (everyone on the starter plan has to upgrade from $32 to $70 per month just to use your expenses feature? Seriously?) and has no more Xero payroll at all.

Here Here. I'm an independent consultant, I raise on average three invoices per month and at least two would be to an international client.
Xero, please listen to your base. I "assume" given the style of your product that most of your clients are independent operators or very small businesses. if you want to keep them, do something about this soon. -

This is an ongoing issue that xero needs to address. Like everyone else, 1 person business with international clients. This is an international world. Multi-currency should not be reserved for a Premium business plan, its unreasonable.

This is essential to my business, but I am a one man company, I cannot justify the huge increase in cost for the plan that includes multi currency, especially when I don't need any of the additional features beyond Starter plan.
Is this really your solution for every small business that requires multi currency? Paying more than double their current plan?
Please resolve by making it an add on, or issue discount coupons to those of us that only need this feature.

I only need the starter functions of Xero, but need to move funds between currency. Not worth paying the premium price for.A suggestion Xero - off multi currency bank transactions for a SMALL add on fee - looking at the list of people here, you would generate an income stream rather than lose subscribers.....

Same as everyone else. Issue only 1-2 invoices per month. Customized an invoice template to appear to be foreign currency but also want to connect a foreign currency account (Wise) to reconcile. Now, we just do it by hand. We will never upgrade to the premium plan, so the forced upsell is ineffective. We would pay for a reasonable add-on.

This is the one area stopping me from adopting Xero Cashbook. I’m on a trial and need Cashbook plus ability to have foreign currency accounts. I don’t need the other features and the price uplift is going to be prohibitive for a single extra feature.

I'm a small business / sole trader and need to issue an invoice in a foreign currency so would also really value the option of having "multiple currencies' as an Add on.

This is a key feature needed for my business as well. It really should be an add on but because it requires an upgrade, I'll likely eventually move to QuickBooks or another service. As a Kiwi abroad that wants to support a NZ based company, this is a real bummer.

It would be great if there was an add on option to add the foreign currency to the Starter plan. We have loads of small clients who are suitable for the Starter plan but need foreign currency. They are not opting for Xero because they can't justify the price jump from £15 to £42 per month.

Super irritating that this is not merely an add-on. Like everyone else explains here - this is critical for one-person companies/consultants operating in environments like UK, EU etc.

It doesn't make sense that this is locked into the upper-tier plans that come with a host of additional features. Multi-currency support should be included or optional for basic plans. It's almost 2024, get with it!

I'm cancelling my subscription and going with Hnry. I only send 2 invoices a month and you want to charge me extra to be able to invoice in foreign currency?

This is critical for me, I am a one-man operation who works from home and I have 2 small businesses that deal in GBP and EUR.
With the Sept 2023 price rises, I will have to pay £82 + VAT per month, over almost £1,200pa, to continue using Xero.
This is an international world. Multi-currency should not be reserved for a Premium business plan designed for large companies.
Unfortunately, after using Xero for > 5 years, I will have to leave if this doesn't change in 2024. That looks likely given no action has been taken by Xero since this request was first made in July 2022.

Hey Xero,
As a solo consultant with operations across France, Australia, and the UK, I rely on the essentials you offer in your Starter Plan. But, there's a glaring omission - multi-currency.
You've boxed this feature into the Premium plan, a cool AU$47 extra a month. Here's the rub: I don't need the bells and whistles in that plan, just the multi-currency feature. So we're looking at a whopping 160% price hike, just for this.
Doesn't quite add up, does it?
Business today is global, and multi-currency is a necessity, not a luxury. Locking it behind a paywall isn't just inconvenient - it's out of touch.
So, Xero, what's the game plan? Is multi-currency ever going to be a standalone add-on? If not, give us the why. Thanks!
