This would be a life saver because I usually close the VAT Return once the bank is reconciled. Would appreciate if this is considered as it will make life easier.

Allow to Edit the Tax Code on transactions without un-reconciling the already allocated Bank Payment or Receipt. This obviously must be limited so that the total amount still matches.

This would be highly helpfull in particular cases were the tax information is received after the Invoice and Payment booking.

I have just signed with Xero a few weeks ago, coming over from MYOB. We are going to have to cancel and stay with MYOB as this is a non negotiable for us. We have projects that can last months to years with regular payments made off the invoice. The ability to edit add and change amounts is critical.

Currently we cannot add or remove items to an invoice once a partial payment has been received.

For my business this creates a massive admin issue that leaches literally hours of staff admin time. I own a dance school and it is completely common place for student to drop, or more commonly pick up, classes throughout the year. Our invoicing is set up for the year, with monthly payments collected via direct debit.

This means that once the first direct debit has been collected, an invoice cannot be edited. Upon opening a case I was advised this was to "maintain integrity of financial records" however in the same respose was advised I could delete the partial payments, edit the invoice, and re-input the partial payments. This essentially voids the idea that this is to maintain integrity.

The process of deleting payments just to edit an invoice creates an undue amount of admin time waster, as all payments must be deleted individually, the invoice edited, and then all payments must be added back in individually, with the invoice automatically closing after each payment is added. I then need to go back into my records and reconcile those payments once again.

I would estimate this takes myself or my staff approximately 10 mins per invoice. For context we are 6 weeks into our term currently and I have already needed to alter 11 invoices, and I estimate term two will require significantly more alterations.

This is enough of a burden for me to consider an alternative software, so I really hope this could be addressed sooner rather than later as everything else has been overall good with xero, but this just takes way to much valuable time.

can we also have it that if its automatic tax we can edit it from the mobile app. and if we print invoices that we can select sent check box.

We have customers who make monthly payments towards their invoices but also incur late fees (interest). It is exceptionally painful to have to remove all payments, add a late fee, then re-apply all payments. One or two is not so bad, but we have had customers make monthly payments for 2 years...now that is painful!

My idea: allow invoice line items to be edited/added when there are payments applied.

Make reference field editable even if the only available option now is "Remove and redo". Often when viewing the account register questions arise that could be prevented by being able to edit the "Reference" field. Currently, the only way to add a reference is "Remove and Redo" which can be quite the process.

Removing payments on invoices over the course of 2 years' ongoing work would be an issue. To summarize, the feature request would be the ability to edit Invoices with auto sales tax on, and payments are applied to the invoice. We are a Custom Hot Rod shop, and it takes a long time to complete a job.

With regards to payments received on bank, we quite often have multiple payments linked to one invoice. When having to amend the invoice we then need to remove all the payments and then reallocate. This is time consuming, is there a simpler way to do this ?

We have a catering business. For virtually ALL of our invoices, the invoice changes between when the deposit (to secure the date) is received and when the event happens. It is extremely frustrating that the payments have to be removed before we can update the invoice.

I have a client on a cash basis.
I am unable to edit invoices that have payments applied to them.
I would like to be able to edit invoices that have payments applied to add additional items.

Ability to change the due date in bulk

It would be great if we could edit the tax rate without reversing the payment allocation. Sometimes, when completing the VAT reconciliation before sending to HMRC, I spot errors in tax rates and I can't edit it without reversing the payment allocation. You can edit the account it is posted to but not the tax rate.
