Notification - Inform users of product updates and changes
The notifications button in Xero is invaluable, this should also incorporate Xero product updates/features/changes. Had I known of the new Direct link for NAB I would have incorporated it long ago, but the marketing emails get buried.
We love the fact that our customers want to stay on the pulse of improvements and key changes that could improve their workflows when using Xero.
While we can't commit to notifying users of all changes that are made in the product, as you may have found as we continue to develop areas of Xero our teams are thinking about those important changes that are key to communicate and share with our customers and you'll find there are different ways we may surface these in your experience depending on the change - This may be through an in app notification, banners or even in some cases in app surveys where we're after your direct feedback to a change.
Other ways you may like to stay updated about what's new is through our site the Long and Short of it where we'll share recent changes as well as upcoming changes and highlight where these have been driven by our community through product ideas here 🙂
Wherever you are in product you'll also find you can use the '?' to search content across Xero Central - If you type 'releases' you'll see our articles related to product releases easily accessible to read up on. Thanks again for your input here.

On the other side though it would be good to be able to permanently remove the new product notifications once you had seen them and determined they weren't needed - e.g Stripe and JAX. I find these very intrusive on the screen when they continually pop up

There is 1 pop up which then closes off. Perhaps you could have more pop ups to describe the many changes you have made. Say there is 15 things you have changed, you could have pop up's 1 to 15 to describe the changes/improvements.
