The new Profit and Loss has lost the functionality to compare by active client column (active within the chosen time period).

The old layout should not be removed in July 23 - it should stay until Xero reinstate the basic existing functions.

Xero for our company doesn't even have the option in 'common formats' to compare by client at all. I have read many complaints and some answers suggesting that if you have 60 tracking categories, then the option won't appear in 'common formats'. I don't know if that is the reason as I can't find any answers from Xero personnel.

I also tried 'Bring layouts from older version' and that did not work.

I understand developers think it's handy to be able to move rows, and I like that - but it is better to have superfluous rows (that can easily be removed when exported) rather than having missing essential data.

It would have been a better development to have the option of displaying only 'active' rows. In the same way that the old P&L displays only active clients (or tracking categories) per column - all that were active in the selected period.

I assume most of Xero's customers have more than one client or some need for tracking categories - otherwise they wouldn't need the expense of using Xero.

Please do not reply that you understand I am fearful of change.
I am always happy to see new developments, but the new P&L unfortunately is not an improvement, it has lost essential functionality that is rendering Xero a real hindrance to the smooth running of our business.

Simply being able to compare by active client for a stated time period is a very basic - and existing - requirement.

I have read so many complaints online, going back a year! And no solutions have been displayed for those who don't have 'compare by client' in common formats.
And those that have that option appear to be stuck with ALL clients appearing rather than just those with activity in the selected period. I don't know if that's been resolved because I can't even try it.

After all those complaints Xero have still not reinstated these basic existing functions to the new layout. That is proof that Xero are not yet ready to close the old P&L.

While Xero work on the issues with the new layout the Old P&L should remain in use until at least 2024. As long as it takes for you to get it right.
