UK Payroll: Include employer pension contributions in employee opening balances
Have the ability to enter employer pension contributions in the opening balances when adding a new client to Xero. At present the resulting payslip is incorrect as the YTD employer pension figure only shows the current month and not YTD.

I've spent ages trying to work out how to do this. Very frustrating. As a new user I assumed it was something I was missing. At least I know that it is an omission in Xero now.

Having payslips showing correct YTD figures is critical and I'm amazed that Xero is not able to do this
Should also be able to enter an opening balance for total gross pay (as well as taxable gross pay) as payslip will not correctly reflect YTD gross pay figures if salary sacrifice was used in previous payroll
This could be a problem for employees using payslips to support mortgage applications etc -

Also, when transferring from another payroll provider, it would be good if the EE opening pension balance was able to be added to the existing Pension line on the payslip instead of a line that show Post Tax Pension in YTD then Aviva RAS with current and YTD. Just looks odd to me.

I would have thought this would be included as standard

Thoroughly agree, after bringing a new payroll customer to Xero their first experience of the brand is it doesn't look very good and you are on the back foot explaining why it looks that way

Having Employers YTD pensions contributions on a payslip is a legal requirement. I can see from previous posts that this has been a known fault for a while. How much longer will it take for Xero to resolve this issue so that companies can be legally compliant?

When taking on a new account and transferring payroll to Xero, it's not good to explain to the client why Xero doesn't have this functionality - especially as it is on every employee's payslip. Reflects badly quite early on in the relationship. Please sort.

To be able to enter the Employers pension opening balance, so then the YTD figures show on the payslip. You can enter this for employee's, but doesn't have the option for Employers.
