Xero Tax - Tax return feature for SMEs
A feature for businesses to submit their own tax returns would be great. I already prepare and submit my own GST returns via Xero and it's really easy - just the push of a button. A similar feature to enable me to prepare and submit my own tax return, without needing to go through an accountant, would be really good as the technology is now here for us to not need expert advice so much in this area now and this will only increase with the rise of AI.

I really need this as well, BEFORE MARCH 2026 WHEN THE HMRC ONLINE SERVICE FOR SUBMITTING CORPORATION TAX RETURNS STOPS.
Our main justification to pay for Xero is it saves he cost of an accountant!
Currently HMRC lists Xero as an alternative software package for submitting tax returns after Mar 2026; but at the moment this is not an option in Xero unless you are a professional accountancy firm.
If Xero does not intend to make this service available you will need to ask HMRC to remove you from their list of commercial software that can do this. -

Yes - we fully support this. We are happy with Xero as a product overall but in this area, we find it severely lacking. Seems to be designed to ensure we have to pay a Xero Partner to complete the return who I am sure has some deal with Xero.
The only way around it for us is to hand fill a paper form and submit the form by paper to the ATO which is quite unreasonable in this day and age.
