Reports - Ability to add Contact Account Numbers to Account Transaction Reports
I propose adding contact account numbers to account transaction reports in Xero. This enhancement will enable users to easily link and reconcile transactions with specific contacts, even when working with downloaded data in formats like Excel.
By incorporating contact account numbers in account transactions reports, users can streamline transaction reconciliation. This feature simplifies the process of cross-referencing transactions and contacts, particularly when utilising downloaded data outside of Xero.
For instance, users can streamline the process of running annual donation receipts by downloading the "Contacts" and "Account Transactions Report". By linking contact account number, contact names and addresses from the contacts with the donation transactions from the account transactions report, leveraging the contact account number as the primary identifier, users can create the required report. This report can then be utilised via mail merge to efficiently generate annual donation receipts.
Please support this idea to improve reporting in Xero.

The Contact Account Number must be unique, along with the Contact name, but it is not available to be selected as a column on most reports, even the generic Account Transactions report. Could it please be added as an option on any report that allows Contact to be selected, but particularly the Account Transactions report.
Contact Account Number is also not searchable in the main screen magnifying search button, or the Invoices / Bills search bars. Often the Contact Account Number is numeric or alphanumeric and less memorable than a Contact Name, but is also often used as the main identifier for the contact in bank transactions and other places.
Hence it would be so useful to be able to see it on a report, and search for it.
I would use this when I export a report for import to another system which uses the Identifier to match the contact. At the moment I need to edit my exported report and fill in the Contact Account Number by using a vlookup of a download of the contacts list. -

I'm in the same position as Trevor Pyman. We're also a member-based organisation and the member number is the key to all our reports. Currently I'm having to use lookup tables in a spreadsheet as a workaround.

Being able to generate a simple report like who paid, their account number and the value paid seems a simple request. Simple basic info that we should be able to run. Seems ridiculous that we need to jimmy together different reports to get the simple information together. Other platforms can do this easily.

I would love this. At the moment for some of our reports eg gift aid report, I can output contact name and their donations, but not the contact account number which I use to link in to salesforce for other reasons.
So I have to also download the xero contacts, do a lookup, and then do another lookup into Salesforce.
It would save time if I could directly link the xero report to the salesforce report via the contact account number. -

We're a member-based organisation and the member number is the key to all our reports and integrations with other systems, so it's vital that we can associate all transactions with the "Contact Account Number" that we use to hold the member number.

This is vital for us to be able to reconcile Xero to our donor system. I didn't find the suggestion easily though, and support hadn't either. Is it possible to change the title to something a bit more simple like "Account Transaction report - include contact account number in column dropdown". I think that says enough
