Hi team, we want to acknowledge your feedback and the needs you’ve expressed for being able to view the transaction line description in the account transactions report.
While we appreciate not the news you’re hoping for here - we want to be honest with you all that there are no plans at this stage to change the behaviour of this report.
We appreciate there can be some confusion of what is shown as it does differ based on the account and the line’s origin. We have added detail within our Xero Central article, but I’ve also noted below for ease of reference.

Hi everyone, we appreciate the support we've received through this idea. Without beating around the bush we don't have any short term plans for enabling the import of spend and receive money transactions. This may be something we look into further down the track so we'll continue to track and review the idea here.
For Xero Partners you could look to use the Conversion toolbox to import bank transactions for your clients.

We have cash sales on-line, which are converted outside Xero into .csv files. Currently I import them as invoices, even though the customer won't see the invoices, and then match them to the payment. It would be more efficient to import them as receive money transactions.

I think my problem is the same. Xero does not populate the sales description in the invoice from the item code, even if the description in the imported .csv file is left blank, but it will populate other fields, e.g. price or account code.

I'm in the same position as Trevor Pyman. We're also a member-based organisation and the member number is the key to all our reports. Currently I'm having to use lookup tables in a spreadsheet as a workaround.
