New Invoicing - Hide detailed summary on email
The new invoicing email sends a detailed summary of the invoice as part of the email. We would like the option to opt out for this like the old email template. We like to breakdown our invoicing internally for reporting purposes but the client does not need a breakdown of line items, just a total. We use custom invoicing templates so that we dont show line by line breakdown and the new email overrides this. Please do not switch off the old invoicing module until this is fixed. Downloading an invoice and sending it through my emails is time consuming and defeats the purpose of this new invoicing portal.
Hi everyone, we appreciate all the attention this idea has received and while I know this has been mentioned by others earlier in the conversation we wanted to confirm it is currently possible to remove the detailed summary from showing within the invoice email.
This is controlled within Email settings and updating your email templates for sales invoice.
If you open your template you'll see an option for 'Include action to online invoice and detailed summary'.
Having checked in with our team we have no plans for changing this flow in the short term, however this is a one time action so once you uncheck and save the template you'll find this removes this formatting from any invoices you send with the template applied.

We agree. We use the line items for internal tracking which the client doesn't need to see. This could be a big issue with some clients. Please allow this to be a choice on the new email template too.

To be perfectly honest the new email invoice template looks really terrible. Not sure why the details of the invoice need to be listed again (there is already a hyperlink and PDF attachment of the invoice). Furthermore, the oversized payment option icons are a massive distraction from a simple email invoice template. It looks way too busy and there is too much information from an end user point of view. Bring back the old email invoice format.

Making this change and not being able to disable it is totally unacceptable. This urgently needs to be fixed as we have clients who are now unable to send invoices out to customers directly from Xero.

Very annoying - why just implement a change without having the option to role back.
There's a checkbox now but you have to uncheck it on every template. It doesn't seem to work for us.
Solution is to move my companies to quickbooks or another provider.

Hurrah! There's a checkbox now but you have to uncheck it on every template. But it removes the invoice details in the email. Hopefully this is a permanent implementation not a temporary one. Thank you.

This also impacts all of customers!! We are using the old version not the new version, yet it has started including this on all emails from yesterday. We now need to go back at least 10 years in technology and download our custom template every single time (hours each day now instead of an hour or less) and email a PDF copy to them via outlook instead. This will also impact us for follow up batch invoices to be sent in bulk and all our reminder follow ups will also now need to be done via PDF download and email!!! Totally understand & welcome adding of new features but this new update takes so many away?!

Agree this is unacceptable and will affect a number of my clients. It doesn't make sense that we have the ability to customise invoice templates but not the information relayed in the body of the email. We will need to resort to downloading invoices as pdfs and emailing them all individually until the problem is rectified.

I only just noticed this. We need to be able to turn this off. I've switched back to the old invoices now.
