Gift Aid - Option to automatically claim Gift Aid
As a charity we would really like the ability to be able to have Gift Aid and reporting on Xero, otherwise we would have to get a 3rd party piece of software to run Gift Aid.
It would be so great to be able to mark on a customers record that they allow us to claim gift aid on the monies they pay to us and then in turn for us to be able to run a report to submit to HMRC of how much Gift Aid we are able to claim from customers in others words extra income from the Government to our charity.
Not sure how many UK charities use Xero for their accounting but this would be a helpful addition we feel.

This has been an issue for some time, I think. I've just been sent a link in response to this query that point to this question and to some 3rd party apps. The only idea I've had is to create new account codes that duplicate some of my income codes to be Gift Aid specific. My plan then is to code each incoming donation to which Gift Aid applies to these and produce a report detailing the transactions. I'll then export it to Excel, sort to group the individual names and then make a claim. It's far from an ideal system but that's the idea I've had. In other words, I'm planning a combination of Xero with heavy lifting from Excel. I don't know why Xero don't add a feature to Contacts that allows you to label someone as Gift Aid and you could run a report that tracks all that person's donations and totals them up, along with their address details, over a specific period. Go on Xero, you'd win many charities' hearts were you to do so.

Hi All,
I am having issues with this myself also tyring to help a charity migrate to Xero. I have 1 main question and a sub question. As xero does not have a direct gift aid submission to HMRC as of yet, is there any providers which link to xero who can do that?
Also any guidelines on how to setup the chart of accounts on Xero for charities? -

We have exactly the same issue. This feature which merely sets out all the inforamtion already stored in Xero would be most useful.

we need the same as a charity as we have hundreds of members paying us and we need to be able to track gift aid and report it as part of our charity accounts
