Also agree that this would be a feature that would be GREATLY appreciated. After moving over from QuickBooks I was extremely disappointed that this isn't already a feature!

It seems like something basic that most people would use.

After all when doing Remittances I don't really care about outgoing money.

And when doing Expenses I don't care about incoming money.

It just makes the page more cluttered and visually confusing!!!!

PS you can't even use the amount category to filter out expenses as it treat negative and positive amounts the same way in the search function.

Please add a Spent / Received filter to the bank reconciliation screen.

When reconciling a large number of transactions, it's unnecessarily time-consuming to scroll through a mixed list just to find customer payments. This is particularly frustrating when carrying out credit control, checking paid invoices, or contacting customers about outstanding balances. A simple filter would make this process much faster and reduce the risk of missing payments.

It would also be extremely helpful to have the option to sort transactions by newest first, as most users are reconciling recent bank activity rather than older transactions.

Finally, clearer visual distinction between Spent and Received transactions (such as different colours or more prominent labels) would make the reconciliation screen much easier to scan.

These small improvements would save valuable time every day and significantly improve the user experience. Thank you for considering this request.

Hello, is there any update for this? It seems like quite a basic request for an accounts package. The idea was shared in Feb 2025 but is still only being monitored. Thanks

This would be extremely useful, and save a lot of time for us. Also having the option to have the newest transactions come up first. Hopefully this can be implemented soon! Many thanks

This is very much needed, we have just moved our company over to Xero from quickbooks on the recommendation of our accountants, and the whole bank reconciliation process is so clunky and slow compared to quickbooks.
I used to quickly filter to money paid in and mark these off against customer invoices before sending out statements and reminders and now it is so time consuming to scroll through pages of transactions to search for them. It is also easier to miss which are money in and out transactions as they aren't as obviously marked as they could be. I have had multiple instances of sales people in our company asking if customers have paid invoices which never happened before purely because of how much longer it takes to get this process done each morning.

Also, to add to this, PLEASE allow us to sort by newest transactions first on the bank reconciliation screen. I do not need to look at transactions I'm ignoring and leaving for the accountant to deal with every time I check it to try and match up new transactions in.

add a filter please to seperate spent / received transactions

this will save a lot of time and effort. thanks

Yes! I want to be able to reconcile only my incoming transactions! then deal with outgoing later.

We kindly request that this feature be implemented at the earliest possible opportunity. We would appreciate Xero's prompt attention to this matter. Thank you for considering our request.

Also would assist if you could select a date range for transactions to reconcile, for example we have 60 day temrs with key suppliers and could have 20+ invoices to pay for a period, being able to select a Supplier and date range should then give this in a minimum number of clicks

Dear Xero Product Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I would like to propose an enhancement to the reconciliation process within Xero that I believe would significantly improve efficiency for all users.

Currently, when reconciling transactions, it can be quite time-consuming to match multiple received payments or spent amounts against their corresponding invoices or bills. To streamline this process, I suggest implementing additional filter options on the Bank Accounts page, specifically under the “Reconcile” tab.

I propose:

1. Filter Improvements: Introduce separate fields for "Spent" and "Received" amounts, as well as for "Bill Numbers" and "Invoice Numbers." This separation will allow for clearer visibility and easier tracking of transactions.

I am confident that these modifications will significantly reduce the time and effort required for reconciling transactions, thereby facilitating a more seamless and user-friendly experience for all stakeholders utilising Xero. If needed, I am open to discussing this further to clarify my suggestions. Please feel free to contact me by phone for a more in-depth conversation.

Thank you for considering this enhancement. I am confident that it will benefit many businesses using Xero.

Best regards,
Waqar Ahmad

Yes, Yes, Yes! Anything to make it easier. This is the worst thing about Xero. Totally agree with Debbie Day too : "Account Transactions - add the page selection functions that are at the bottom of the page to the top so you don't have to scroll to the bottom to flick through pages."

An absolute must have and the sooner the better

This would speed up my accounting tasks - more important to reconcile my invoices and prevent unnecessary reminders.

Reconcile - enable statement transactions to be listed in Spent or Received order by clicking on the words in the same way you can on the Account Transactions page.
Account Transactions - add the page selection functions that are at the bottom of the page to the top so you don't have to scroll to the bottom to flick through pages.

This is such a basic function that I'm amazed that we are still having to ask for it!

This would be extremely helpful.

Allow a filter which enables you to only see paid in or paid out at a time. E.g if I only want to see and reconcile amounts paid in it would show purely that and not amounts /statement lines gone out and vice versa.

add a filter where u can just select all incoming transactions or all outgoing transactions for easier reconciliation

this idea would be very beneficial, please implement

It would be great to be able to filter unreconciled bank transactions in the bank rec so that it displays only spent amounts (and not received amounts).

We have several thousand bank transactions in each month (mostly received amounts) under this entity and it would be great to be able to filter by unreconciled spent amounts only so that these transactions could be matched and processed before we run a weekly report of payables so that this report is accurate.

Thanks.
