Manual Journals - Quick link on the menu banner to add a journal
Add the function to create a new Journal to the '+'.
No need to go on to a journal report and then select add new journal.

Did you know there's already a quick link for adding manual journals?
To see this, you'll need to have the Adviser user role in the organisation.
