Reporting - Projects billing vs quotes
Ability to link quote and invoice (not billing from the actual quote)
We currently keeping time in Avaza and pulling time through on our invoices in Avaza into Xero. The actual time(our cost) is then shown in the Xero invoice which is changed to the invoice amount. I am trying to get to the ultimate spreadsheet - Quote (budget column) vs Actual cost (time) vs Invoiced amounts (this all has to be shown as the separate line items quoted)In summary:
A report that replicates an excel sheet that we have set up manually at the moment:Column 1

Inventory - Filter to exclude inactive items in reports
Is it possible to filter between active and inactive inventory in inventory reports? All my inventory is listed in my reports but I only want to see active inventory.
6 votesIs there a specific inventory report you'd find this most useful in?
Being open we don't have immediate plans for adding this filter into the reports, but it'd be good to get this detail that could be shared back with the team when considered.

Expenses - Create Expense Claims from bank reconciliation screen
When using debit cards, we get transactions posted into the bank account before a card holder completes their expense claim. Or forgets to!
From the bank account reconciliation screen, I would like to be able to send a transaction into expenses for the card holder to complete then expense claim process. The transaction should appear in their draft expenses.2 votes -
Fixed Assets - Enable account codes to be edited / updated
Currently, apart from rolling back depreciation prior to the first asset being allocated to an Asset Type, it isn't possible to update the accounts code without a lot of hassle.
For example, a general depreciation code may have been assigned to an Asset Type. If you would like to update this to a specific code, e.g. "Depreciation - Plant & Equipment", it is a difficult process with the potential for unintended changes to prior years.
As a result, a common workaround is having to do a journal to reallocate the depreciation amount for each period. However, if you could simply…

Manual Journal - Copy line above
Manual Journal - Copy details from line above- this is a tool in Sage so please could you consider it? :) it's a nifty action & allows a one click solution to repeat account & tracking categories and is especially useful for large entries such as payroll journals.
9 votesAppreciate you raising your idea here, Anne. We'll begin to track the interest.
For now, if you have large journals you need to enter you may want to explore importing journals.

Reports - New Aged Payables Report V's Previous Report filtering options by due date
Previously in the old format Aged Payable Summary and Detail reports you could run the report at the end of the month and change the Ageing by option to be by Due date and the report would then exclude any invoices with a due date later than the month end it was being run by. However when doing the same in the new format report this does not work and the Current column shows invoices for the month as being due even if they have a due date of later than the month end date being selected i.e. the report…

Profit & Loss - Drill down into total column of a month by month P&L report
I use month by month P&L reports all the time and I manually add a total column. It would be great to be able to drill into the total amount for each category to review the expenses all at one time, rather than either having to generate a further account transactions report or drill into them month by month

Bank reconciliation - Import spend & receive money transactions
An import template for importing bank spend and receive money transactions. Now that Datadear is longer available for Xero clients as an app there is no way to import bank transactions

Projects - Create Spend Money from a Project expense
When adding a actual expense within a project it should open a spend money transaction in Xero and have the ability to save photo of the receipt as normal spend money. Or alternative within the XERO app be able to select a project when inputing a receipt, the current setup is double handeling because you purchase somthing and you have to enter it in xero then in the project.

Short term cashflow - Option to include payroll
Very simply, short term cashflow does not include a range of items the biggest and most important of which is payroll. I think if you are selling this feature you should be very wary of the need for a disclaimer if the feature fails to be accurate, and decisions could be made on false information if for example the biggest expense item being wages is not included.
Granted it should be something people take great care when making financial decisions and should note the issue, many don't have great financial literacy which is part of why xero was created in…

Reports - Add "Transaction Modified Date" column in Reports
In Account Transactions reports, you should be able to add a column for "modified date". This would be extremely helpful when reconciling between information submitted to HMRC and the information in the nominal. I am no QuickBooks fan, but this is one feature that they have that Xero does not.

Reporting - Set 'Working capital with other cash movements' report to be default for the Cash Summary Report
I need to include a Cash Summary report and bank summary report in standard management reports.
I need the Cash Summary report format - working capital with other cash movements. I never use the default report. It includes balance sheet items as expenses and has little meaning for the clients I have viewed this for.
At the moment, this can only be done on an individual client level and laboriously. This is not viable for my office.

Reporting - Restrict user access to the Edit Layout button in financial statements
We have spent a significant amount of time creating our financial statement templates using the report codes to ensure consistency and quality. Using Edit Layout can cause significant issues, including notes not matching the numbers in the balance sheet. As a result, we require the ability to remove access to the Edit Layout function for selected users.
This is a significant quality and risk issue.1 vote -
Xero Accounting app | Bank feed - Ability to refresh
Given that your bank feeds constantly don’t work, it would be great if they could be refreshed via the app, rather than having to login to a computer.
4 votesHi Tahnee, the process can slightly differ from bank to bank. Is there a specific bank connection you'd find this most useful for?

Business Snapshot - Ability to show monthly and quarterly comparatives
In the Business Snapshot all of the comparatives are to previous year. In a startup this isn't meaningful as prior year balances are nil, but month-to-month or quarter-to-quarter comparatives would be super useful. In established businesses also, monthly and quarterly comparatives can be very useful.

Bank reconcilliation - Allocate account transactions against each other.
Add a function to allocate transactions in an account against each other so you can easily identify which transactions are making up the balance (e.g. in a PAYE you would allocate the payment to HMRC against the payroll journal).
