NZ Payroll - standalone module
I have a client who would like to give access to payroll only for a user and not have access to the bank accounts. Is this on the future roadmap?
2 votesSorry for not rounding back on your idea here sooner, Leslie. This is already possible via the Payroll Admin role. Just one thing to check - when you mention they don't want them to have access to the bank accounts - would this be the organisation's bank accounts, or the employee bank account details? Here's a bit more information about the 2 payroll roles access and another with detail on how to set this up for a user.

Xero HQ Chart of Accounts missing field
Chart of Accounts
Xero HQ import personalised chart of accounts, the current process does not allow the report name to be included. This requires editing of the chart once imported to the client. Would be helpful to have this field available to update the chart templates, saving staff time amending all charts.14 votesInto a fresh year with good news - You'll find the Chart of Account import template for Xero HQ now includes a field for Reporting name! 😁
Thanks for your inputs, everyone.

Bank rule - leave description as is.
When creating a rule. Add an option to leave the description as it is. This is helpful if the client has added something onto the bank line and the rule would otherwise remove it.
1 voteHey Gregor, thank you for submitting this. If you want to retain the original description of your bank statement lines the best approach would be to leave the 'Description' box empty when creating a bank rule. This will prevent the bank rule from overwriting the original line with the text you've entered into the bank rule and keep it as it is 😊

Xero HQ | Tax (UK) - View filing dates
Could you add the ability to track client filing dates for CT, VAT, Companies house etc all in one place?
4 votesHi team, you'll find there is now a dedicated space in Xero HQ and XPM where you can view upcoming and filed returns for all our UK tax products!
In Xero HQ or XPM, select Tax and then Tax Manager. From here you can filter down by product type, tax year and status. This should help you easily manage and stay on top of client deadlines and manage everything in one place. 🙂

UK Tax | CT600 - R&D tax repayments
R&D tax repayments
Currently with Xero Tax you can only request a credit towards the tax liability and not a cash repayment. Can Xero please amend this so that those that are amending CT submissions to claim R&D, can request to have the cash repayment rather than the reduction. it needs to be populated in CT600 box 865 (currently ).6 votesThanks for your contribution to this idea everyone, and apologies we've not updated you here sooner.
Although we don't support the CT600 box 865 we do support boxes 875, 880 and 885 which are automatically populated with the payable R&D, RDEC or Creative tax credit as applicable when the R&D schedule has been completed and the company is able to claim the repayment.
We added a lot of functionality to Xero Tax last year(2024) around R&D to stay on top of legislative changes, such as those in June 2024 to bring in Enhanced R&D Intensive Support (ERIS) and support the merged RDEC scheme.

Xero Workpapers - Xero Hotlink to link to new Account Transactions report
The Xero Hotlink button should open an Account Transactions (new) report for that account rather than the old Transactions report, for many many reasons.
44 votesThis is now live🎉
You can find the full release details over on our 'Xero Product releases' page.
Hotlinks in workpapers will now connect to the new reports in Xero. If a workpaper links to the Account Transactions, Bank Reconciliation, Aged Receivable Detail, Aged Payable Detail or Fixed Assets Reconciliation report, you'll be able to use exciting features that will help you get quick access to answers and streamline your financial analysis.

Contact - control page information incorrect
Has anyone else had a problem with the contract control page displaying incorrect information?
Our customers pay a 30% deposit with order, we record this as an overpayment. When an invoice is raised we transfer 30% of the deposit to pay a % of the invoice.
On the contact control page it shows the invoice number, the total paid and the total due. But the total paid doesn't include the overpayment - so the total paid is INCORRECT.
The contact control page does show the overpayment total reduced by the 30% paid over to the invoice so it isn't consistent. …1 voteHi Amanda just popping back here to let you know that the custom column option has been added to the All, Invoices and Bills tab.
Clicking on the ‘Column’ button opens a list of all data columns available on the tab. Select the fields you wish to see on the page, in your case: Total amount. Click Apply. This saves the default view for the tab for all the contacts in your selected organisation.
Note - This change is per user, so the columns will not change for other users of your organisation.

New Customer Invoice Report doesn't have the original currency
The new report that replaces Customer Invoice Report called Receivable Invoice Summary, is missing a very important function, the ability to report in the currency that it was invoiced in. The report only shows the converted FX amount in AUD.
7 votesHi community 👋, our Reporting teams been making a lot of improvements to the newer versions of reports to enhance for the 2features we know customers value most in the older versions.
Recently, they released an improvements to both the Receivable and Payable Invoice Summary and Detail reports so you can now add currency columns to view invoices in the original currency they were invoiced.
If you prefer this view, once you've added the columns to your reports you can save as Custom to make this easily accessible any time. 😁

21 votesHi everyone, this is possible by running the Income Tax Client report in Xero Tax. This report will show you details from the ATO of clients with a tax obligation who are linked to your registered agent number. It'll provide the current and last 3 years data for each of your clients.

Static Accountant & Bookkeeper Profiles
Accountants should have a singular login that stays with them and is not tied to the firm/email they initially sign up with. Wiping the slate clean when changing employers is degrading to the work done during that time.
Accountant users should have the option to change the email, and the firm can add/remove them as staff as need be.
Aspects:
-When an employee leaves, Xero sends a notification to the user to change their email address. Employer removes access to client files.
-When an employee changes their email, Xero notifies that access to client files will be lost unless reset…1 voteHey Dot, you can set up your Xero account with an email you'll always have access to (i.e. a personal or business email that isn't tied to a practice)
This way you won't lose track of your certifications or cases when moving between new practices.
You can also use these steps to Delete yourself from an organisation, to remove your own access when it's no longer required.

XPM - Add [Client] Group field to Criteria section in Report Builder
In Report Builder when building many types of reports (including Client & Contact and WIP Ledger), we would like to be able to filter for just one Client Group.
However, the [Client]Group field is only available in the Fields section, but not the Criteria section of the report. This means we can run a report for all clients and sort by group, but we cannot run a report just for one group.
This reporting is essential when managing an accounting practice - we need to see WIP Ledger entries pertaining to a particular client group, for billing and KPI purposes.19 votesHi community, 👋 thanks for all your support on this idea. I'm popping in to switch it across to delivered!
You'll find that both WIP Ledger and Client & Contact type reports now include the [Client] Group(s) criteria. This allows you to specify the client group you wish to report on.
For more information on which fields can be used in reports see Report Builder data fields'

Xero Tax (UK) - Exclude Dividends note from filleted accounts
Xero HQ Filleted Accounts without Dividend Note
There should be a facility whereby the notes to the full accounts can be edited for the filleted accounts so that not all are disclosed at Companies House, such as, & very importantly the 'Dividend' note
16 votesHi everyone, thanks for your feedback on this idea. As part of our recent improvements to the notes & disclosures for FRS 1021a accounts, the dividends note is now included within the Directors report which isn't submitted to Companies House. We appreciate there is further work to do to maximise the flexibility here and always appreciate your feedback so please continue to add new ideas.

Personal Tax (UK) | Information pulling through from HQ
When you create a tax return for a client, the system doesn't pull through their address or email, this need to be automated from the info in HQ. Not sure why it doesn't pull through, when it pulls through NI number and UTR, why doesn't it pull through address or email, we have to physically select it from drop down box
1 voteHi Bonnie, happy to share that the work here has now been delivered. You'll find that the clients Address, Telephone number and Email address should automatically populate in the appropriate field in Personal Tax. 😁

Xero HQ - Chart of Account import to include system accounts
When you import a personalised chart of accounts you get stuck with the default numbers for the system accounts as it does not allow them to be included in the template. The result being the system accounts are dramatically out of order compared to our desired place for them in our personalised chart.

Job Manager - Manager name
I would like to see the Job Manager in the Home page of the jobs workflow. At the moment you can only Filter by Manager, however I want to see the status of all of my jobs with the manager in a column out to the side.
3 votesSincerely sorry we haven't updated this idea again sooner! I can confirm you can now see who's managing work or assigned to a job at a glance.
The All Jobs tab in the Practice Manager Job Manager now includes staff, partner and manager columns and you can choose multiple people in each filter. Customise the view for only the columns you'd like to see 😊

Xero Tax (UK) | CT600L - R&D Tax Credits
Xero apparently creates and submits a CT600L when R&D is included on a return. I say apparently because you can't download it/see it but support assure me it is there and that is the idea, - we should be able to download this for review and aproval by client.
5 votesHey Community 👋
Just following on from Paul's last update, this is now live!
Xero Tax now supports the production of the CT600L for RDEC claims going forward.
For more information on this, check out our 'What’s available in Xero Tax' article over on Xero Central.

Default dates in reports
With the old reports we were able to set the report dates and then save the link. For example for the 2022 year I have the Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Trial Balance, Journal report, Accounts receivable etc with the default date 01/07/2021-30/06/2022. I have saved these links into a folder on my browser and then whenever I open up the report to whichever client file I am in in automatically defaults to this date. Is there any way the new reports can default to an annual date so that we don't have to keep refreshing the date every time…
2 votesHi Ineke, this is possible in the newer versions of reports. Once you have the report set up as you like you can save as Custom.
There are both common date formats such as Last Month, This year etc, or you can set a custom date range.
Once you've saved the custom report, you can also make this more readily available by favoriting it. 🙂
