UK Tax | UK accounts and tax returns for clients that do not use Xero.
New feature that enables accountants in the UK to prepare accounts and tax returns for clients that do not use Xero.
2 votesHi community, we have Personal Tax within Xero Tax in the UK that enables Partners to prepare clients’ Self Assessment tax returns and file them with HMRC directly from Xero Tax. It doesn't require a Xero subscription so as the Partner you could add your clients that aren't already using Xero and will be able to process their Personal tax forms for them through Xero Tax.

Avoid blank beneficiary schedules from generating on tax returns
In Xero Tax we need to be able to indicate that a beneficiary does not receive income in a financial year so that the tax return validates without deleting the relationship in XPM. Vice versa in the beneficiary return ie: individual, company another trust we need to be able to indicate they are not receiving trust income so that this return also validates without deleting the relationship in XPM
9 votesAppreciate you showing your interest around this in Product Ideas, team. However, to confirm you do not need to delete the relationship in XPM.
Instead, in the situation where there's nothing to distribute, you'll want to make sure the beneficiary distribution statement within the TRT has the 'Distribution type' field as blank.
You may just want to open the return to make sure this Distribution type field is correct. Thanks

Where on xero in the report is a customer & supplier name & address report giving account number / address details please.
1 voteHi Jane, there is no direct report in Xero that will provide all this detail for your Contacts. However you could export your contacts from Xero which will include columns with this data.

UK Tax - Include Property Income in Personal Tax
Add Property Income to Personal Tax. For many people this is the only reason they have to fill in a tax return
1 voteHi Cath, we already support UK property income. You'll need to add UK Property Income form here's some guidance on adding the forms. You may also find this summary of what's available in Xero Tax helpful.

Check Register Report
New to be able to run a report to show checks paid out each month, sortable by each bank account. Date - Payee - Check Number - Transaction Amount - Status (Reconciled / Unreconciled), Total dollar amount of checks written for the month, as well as total dollar amount of checks unreconciled for the month. It would be nice to have the voided checks fall to the bottom as well. I have attached a copy of one I make in excel every month since Xero doesn't have this report.
3 votesThanks for sharing a screenshot of what you're after, Lauren. This is the same detail as what can be retrieved from the Checks register in Xero, and if needed you can Export your check register to CSV to be able to use this outside of Xero.
While it's not possible to filter or sort the order of checks based on Status, if desired you could use the CSV outside of Xero to sort your checks register.

Xero - Aged Receivables Analysis Report (30 Days instead of < 1 Month)
Option to show AR Summary or Detailed Report with "30 Days" instead of "< 1 Month" shown and likewise for other columns, such as "60 Days" instead of "1 Month".
2 votesHi Kyle, you can do this by editing the Ageing periods of the report 😊. For example you could change this to # periods of '30' and drop down to select Day instead of month.

Monthly Total Invoiced Amount per contact
Instead of showing only the cash out over the 12 months on the top of a contact show the total invoiced amount so that we could check all the invoices are on by matching the monthly figures to the statement.
3 votesHi team, as note din my last update. It's possible to run the Receivable Invoice Summary report with a few filters to get what you need here.
If you Group by Contact and Filter by Approved you'll be able to see the invoices and a summary per Contact. If this is a report you'd want to view often, you could save as Custom to quickly access this anytime.

Date Order of Account Transactions
In 'Account Transactions', it would be useful to be able to specify the date order - latest first or, as now, oldest first.
1 voteYou can click the Date header in the Account Transactions tab of the bank account to sort by Date, Gordon.
Clicking once will sort newest-first and a second click will switch the order to oldest-first.

Bank Report
In the old reports there was a bank report, (Detailed Account Transaction Report) that you could pull up the bank account and it would show the bank entries and where they had been coded. This is not longer available. Alternatively, could the code be added to the Bank reconciliation page where it shows the entries.
1 voteHi Penny, this is available within the Account Transactions report and you'll find a common option of Bank transactions by date which includes the account the transactions have been coded to. I believe this is the report you're looking for here.

AU Payroll Employee Summary - Filter by Employee Groups
Employee Group is an option inside normal Xero for Personnel Officer to filter and generate different reports to support their lives and legal requirements.
Xero has this option, and removed this function without a follow up. This is not make sense.
I found this problem was listed since March 2024 and still do not have a solution.Recently I raise a case support and checking with Payroll Specialist and got a reply that Xero has a bug and require the user to contact the Product Team and raise an idea here to see any chance to get an improvement, or…
2 votesSorry for the back and forth, Rossetti. To confirm for all - While it's not possible to select certain individual employees, you can use the Payroll Activity Details report to view a total hours for an employee group.
If the employees are all part of the same group in payroll, you'll be able to run the report for that employee group for the required date range. While we don't currently have any plans right now for developing the ability to select multiple employees from the list, we hope the employee group option can accommodate your needs.

Cash Coding - Selecting many transactions at once
Cash Coding - Ability to select many transactions at once, not by ticking one by one.
Example on the attached. I have like thousand of these transactions, and I had to tick them one by one to be able to reconcile them.
1 voteHi Danica, the select options in cash coding work similar to spreadsheets. There is the check box at the top of the grid that allows you to select all so you could then just uncheck the lines you don't want to reconcile.
Alternatively, if you select a line and hold down Shift on your keyboard you'll be able to select multiple lines by clicking down or up to the line to bulk select. 😊

bank rec
Would be helpful if it showed a running total for the bank on the bank rec just to check the bank is correct
2 votesHi team, as mentioned in my last update there are already means to view your balances when reconciling.
Currently from the Reconcile screen of a bank account there is the Balance in Xero shown at the top that updates as you reconcile.
Account Transactions will also show the running balance of the accounts selected.

GST Transactions - totals per GST type for mixed-GST users.
GST Transactions - we have organizations that use mixed GST codes in accordance with IRD ruling. It appears the GST report no longer sub-totals per GST code (eg. we have 3.39% rate and 15% rate and a previously used rate 2.95%). It would be helpful for the reports to provide subtotals after a change in tax code use, to provide a further level for the user to check
1 voteHi Trish, you can change the report format to transactions by tax rate which'll provide what you're after here 🙂

Confirmation when editing transaction before lock dates
After the lock dates is set, xero should prompt advisors to alert them when they try to edit anything before the lock dates, and let the advisors to confirm that they really want to edit the transaction before the lock dates.
1 voteHi Choon Wei, there are 2 lock dates that can be set in your Xero organisation. One will stop all users except advisers from making changes, the other will stop all users from making changes on or before the lock date set.
Setting up the latter lock date should help with the notifications that you're mentioning here, and where you'd still like to proceed with the change you'd go to the financial settings to remove/reapply the lock date once complete.

Tax settings defaults
When entering line items it would be useful to have a way to default the tax settings - default the GST rate, & default the inclusive/exclusive setting. Would save time on the majority of tasks and need changing on a few
1 voteHi Sarah, this is already possible. Tax amount settings for Sales and Purchases can be found in the organisations Financial Settings. It's also possible to set up default Tax rates that can be applied to a Contact, Inventory item and/or Accounts within your chart of accounts - see more detail on default tax rates in our help here.

Advisor Reports (financials) - hide empty notes in report templates
You heartily pat yourself on the back for a job well done in the latest blog post re: product updates, while missing the point completely.
Cool, you now hide empty notes in the financials automatically, but you DON'T recast the numbering of the notes, so I still have to go through and click '...' -> 'Hide' anyway.
Looking at the Balance Sheet before doing this the numbering goes:
- 2
- 3
- 5
- 15Not very professional now, is it.
2 votesThanks for feeding back on this with us here, Paul. We appreciate that you'd like Xero to auto renumber notes on screen where they are automatically hidden in report templates. While there is a bit of complexity in being able to do this, our team have ensured Xero will automatically renumber notes on any published or exported documents, keeping your reports consistent and professional.

AU Tax - Losses carried forward - Tax (AUS)
Losses carried forward have to be manually entered each year. It would be great if the information flowed through automatically from the prior year tax return. This will help to reduce risks that someone may accidently omit or incorrectly enter losses.
186 votesHeya team! With updates we've just released for Xero Tax in Australia, we've also provided the capability being asked here for Company Tax Returns(CTR) - If a CTR is in a tax loss position in 2024, we'll roll over the loss into a losses worksheet in 2025.
We appreciate there may be other return types our customers want losses carried forward for. To get better insight of interest around these we recommend raising new ideas for the specific type of return you'd like to see this feature with.
You can check out the full range of updates we've made in Xero Tax on Xero Central.

Personal Tax (UK) | Unmark as filed
It's not possible to reverse a Personal Tax return that has been marked as filed. It will be great to do it.
1 voteThanks for your feedback and letting us know the change that could benefit you when using Xero Tax(UK).
We've made an improvement and now a user with the Reviewer tax permission can amend a personal tax return in Xero Tax. 😊

Xero Sign - Default wording template
It would be helpful to be able to change the default wording in the Xero sign email and even select from various templates.
Currently the default email is very generic and lacks the tone our practice uses.
3 votesHi Geraint, it's possible to edit e-sign email templates 😊 You'll see an option within Xero Sign Settings. See more information on this, here.

Bulk register fixed assets additions
Ability to bulk edit and register fixed assets which are curently sat within the draft screen on fixed assets
1 voteHi Alice, this is already possible. From the Draft assets tab within Fixed assets you can select All or multiple assets that are listed and then click Register. As long as the assets are complete they will be registered.
