  2. Went to filter my Payroll Employee Summary by employee Groups to show my Apprentices income for Payroll Tax Reporting and it's gone? Why? I've got to say it's getting really irritating that Xero features keep being removed overnight.

A suggestion - do not remove a feature and replace it until the new function does at a MINIMUM the same standard of functionality that was previously offered. Otherwise you're going to get alot of annoyed and fed up paying customers.

FYI - it's not hard for us as an accounting practice firm to migrate away from Xero if you continue to…

Hey everyone, we appreciate your feedback and hearing what our customers need most when using this report.
Following the release of the new Payroll Employee Summary report found under the Accounting > Reports menu, we have done a recent update to enable the ability to filter by Employee Group.

  3. Could we please create an Aged Creditor & Debtor reporting format for the Ageing Period Title to show "Current. 31-60 Days. 61-90 Days. 90+ Days. Total" . Clients doing Tenders are required to do use this format on reports.

Hi Judy, this is already possible with Aged Receivables Detail and Summary reports. You'll find within the Ageing section that you can adjust to choose the number of periods then you'd want to enter 30 and Days.

If this is your preferred view, you can save as custom to make this easily accessible.

  4. Under new rules in Finance Bill 2023/24 (which was given Royal Assent on 22 February 2024), R&D intensive loss making companies can claim a repayable tax credit of 14.5% where their R&D expenditure is 40% or more of their total expenditure (rather than the 10% credit that applies from 1 April 2023).

Please can you build this functionality into Xero Tax, so that the 14.5% tax credit can be claimed for R&D intensive companies.

    See below for further details:

Hi community, this has now been released and we cater for enhanced Research & Development(R&D) intensive support (ERIS) allowing you to claim a higher rate of payable tax credit for R&D intensive companies. This update is available for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 April 2023.

Hi Mike 👋, this is already possible within Xero Tax for UK users.

The wording of the accounts will automatically be adjusted when creating a set of accounts for a company limited by guarantee. These changes are driven by the Company Registration Number saved within the Organisation Settings in Xero.

For FRS 1021a you should see the statutory information note now references the company is limited by guarantee and for FRS 105 the balance sheet statements will be updated. If this isn't in line with what you're experiencing please raise a case with our support team.

  6. We can use a single incoming bank item for multiple invoices or expenses, but I've noticed the converse isn't true.

I had an issue at an eatery where the staff didn't get my food order until everything was paid. So one line came in for drinks and another for food. I filed the entire trip under one expense item.

When it came through Xero, the reconciliation didn't enjoy that I was trying to attribute two items to a single expense.

Thanks for the feedback here, We're going to shift this idea to delivered. As mentioned in my last update - you can record the expense as a bill in Xero, which enables you to apply multiple payments when reconciling. While you can only reconcile one statement line at a time, you can reconcile more than one statement line to a single bill or invoice.

It's worth noting spend money is treated as a direct payment, so you can only match this on a one-one basis and you would need to enter one spend money transactions for each portion of the payment.

  7. We've lost the ability to see if there are attachments on contacts - it used to be a quick way to see if a PDF W9 was on file. We also used to keep a 1099 file in Xero Files and would link those to the contacts, so we could quickly see if clients had been updated. That was especially helpful when names didn't correspond well (dba's and such). Now the files are hidden in the Files section of the Contacts but their aren't visible from the 1099 management.

  8. How do I attach a calculation (CGT) to a personal tax return? It's currently not possible to attach and save personal tax documents to Personal tax that will not be submitted to HMRC.

I’ve included a link to Xero Product Ideas where you can view and support current ideas or create a new one to share your thoughts.

Hi, thanks for raising this idea - I'll switch it across to delivered as this is something that can be achieved in Xero Tax.

To include include your own calculations for CGT in the Personal Tax return. You will first need to add the Capital Gains schedule and check the box to indicate that you are including your own calculations.

You can then head to the attachments page and upload your calculations.

The Generate a personal tax return support article has information on how schedules can be added to the personal tax return.

  9. In a non resident return it would be good if Xero could prevent finalisation of the return where the PIE tax credit is in excess of what is claimable under the Tax on Taxable Income/Taxable Income x PIE Income formula. Thanks

Hey Claire, rounding back to your idea here I wanted to confirm that when running an IR3NR return there is already a warning that'll appear if PIE tax deducted exceeds tax on taxable income.

This will prevent the return being filed in Xero until the figures have been amended.

  10. Share capital note - in many accounts production packages there is a share capital note. It would be good to have this available in Xero Tax. If not, please could you add the functionality to add a custom note, which would enable us to add a narrative and a simple table.

Hey Gregor, thank you for submitting this. If you want to retain the original description of your bank statement lines the best approach would be to leave the 'Description' box empty when creating a bank rule. This will prevent the bank rule from overwriting the original line with the text you've entered into the bank rule and keep it as it is 😊

Thanks for the idea here, Mike. Our team have made some recent updates and Xero Tax (NZ) will now provide a warning banner with suggestions to show where your tax return may require a review.

  13. Can you please update Advisor Published Reports to have the option to not print the date in the footer.

Very annoying that Xero makes changes without providing an option (tick box) to not show dates in the footer of our final product to the client (Financial Statement templates) and are now forced to just live with this enhancement we did not want. Fine to be printed on other reports.

Hey community - thanks to everyone that shared their feedback on this idea.

As you might have noticed, this was a change made in response to our other highly requested idea 'Reporting - Show date and time stamp report was run'

However, the feedback from accountants and bookkeepers has been that this feature is not necessary for published reports. As such, we've gone ahead and turned off dates in the footer of published reports.

You'll still have access to date stamps in all your other reports, but they'll now be removed when a report is published.

  14. Has anyone else had a problem with the contract control page displaying incorrect information?
Our customers pay a 30% deposit with order, we record this as an overpayment. When an invoice is raised we transfer 30% of the deposit to pay a % of the invoice.
On the contact control page it shows the invoice number, the total paid and the total due. But the total paid doesn't include the overpayment - so the total paid is INCORRECT.
The contact control page does show the overpayment total reduced by the 30% paid over to the invoice so it isn't consistent. …

Hi Amanda just popping back here to let you know that the custom column option has been added to the All, Invoices and Bills tab.

Clicking on the ‘Column’ button opens a list of all data columns available on the tab. Select the fields you wish to see on the page, in your case: Total amount. Click Apply. This saves the default view for the tab for all the contacts in your selected organisation.

Note - This change is per user, so the columns will not change for other users of your organisation.

  15. Foreign tax paid on employment, self-employment and other income.

On the individual self assessment tax return, we need the ability to fill in the boxes on page "F6" of the Foreign pages marked "Foreign tax paid on employment, self-employment and other income"? In particular, we need to fill in columns:

    A Country or territory code
    C Foreign tax paid
E To claim Foreign Tax Credit Relief put 'X' in the box
    F Taxable amount

I'm happy to share that this idea has been delivered! Xero Tax now supports every box on the SA106 on our existing Foreign income schedule for the 2023 tax year onwards. You can now add foreign tax on employment income, self employment income and FHL EEA profits from within the Foreign income schedule.

Thanks for supporting this idea 😊

    Hey Kali,

You can use the 'Leave Transactions report' to see a list of all leave transactions (including accruals, balance brought forward and leave taken).

For more information, check out our 'Leave Transactions report' article on Xero Central.

  17. Accountants should have a singular login that stays with them and is not tied to the firm/email they initially sign up with. Wiping the slate clean when changing employers is degrading to the work done during that time.

Accountant users should have the option to change the email, and the firm can add/remove them as staff as need be.

    Aspects:
-When an employee leaves, Xero sends a notification to the user to change their email address. Employer removes access to client files.
-When an employee changes their email, Xero notifies that access to client files will be lost unless reset…

Hey Dot, you can set up your Xero account with an email you'll always have access to (i.e. a personal or business email that isn't tied to a practice)

This way you won't lose track of your certifications or cases when moving between new practices.

You can also use these steps to Delete yourself from an organisation, to remove your own access when it's no longer required.

  18. FX rates to be added back to new reports like they used to be in the old reports. Otherwise how do we know what exchange rate is used for conversion at any given time?

    Thanks

    Hi everyone, along with earlier reports I mentioned, our team have now expanded disclosures for foreign currency to the following reports;

    • Receivable Invoice Detail/Summary (And all common formats)
    • Payable Invoice Detail/Summary (and all common formats)
    • Contact Transactions Summary
    • Supplier Bill Activity
    • Customer Invoice Activity
    • Bank Reconciliation Summary
    • Executive Summary

With this release we'll shift this across to delivered. If there's another report you'd really like to see this on, do start a new idea and we can begin to get a sense of the interest for that as well. Thanks!

  20. To be able to run the aged payables/receivables reports for a set date range, but as at another date. I need the date of invoices to only be showing up to the companies year-end, but to see whether they are still outstanding at the date I am preparing the accounts. For example, if their year-end is 31st Dec 22, I would not want invoices included after this date, but I would like to see the position as at 19th May 2023, to see what is still outstanding now. I could do this on the old reports by setting the date…

Hey Mandi, this can be achieved using the additional invoice date fields available to you under 'Filters' 😊

For example, you can set the 'Invoice Due Date' for to 31 Dec 2021 and the date for the report to 'Today', to see all invoices due prior to 31 Dec 2021, that are still outstanding today.
