  1. Went to filter my Payroll Employee Summary by employee Groups to show my Apprentices income for Payroll Tax Reporting and it's gone? Why? I've got to say it's getting really irritating that Xero features keep being removed overnight.

A suggestion - do not remove a feature and replace it until the new function does at a MINIMUM the same standard of functionality that was previously offered. Otherwise you're going to get alot of annoyed and fed up paying customers.

FYI - it's not hard for us as an accounting practice firm to migrate away from Xero if you continue to…

Hey everyone, we appreciate your feedback and hearing what our customers need most when using this report.
Following the release of the new Payroll Employee Summary report found under the Accounting > Reports menu, we have done a recent update to enable the ability to filter by Employee Group.

  2. NZ Tax -New item added Audit Check orange warnings - a check that advises the preparer that IR4J boxes 7E (Total Credits) and 8D (Total Debits) if they are zero and is this correct. This would check that the IR4J has been completed as this is occasionally missed

The audit check button should be available before the return is completed

Hey community, this is now possible! 🎉The team have added new warnings on the IR4 which display if box 7E or 8D are zero. These warnings will show when there's no entry in these boxes and invite you to review the return.

Thank you for all your inputs here - we appreciate your feedback, it helps us to continue to shape the future of NZ Tax at Xero.

  3. We're looking to add an indicator as to subscription ownership for the Xero HQ client list. This is just to say if the organisation is billed directly to the partner or if the partner is invited in and the client is responsible for the subscription.

This will be crucial for the Spark and Helix rollout to help customers work through with their clients and get subscriptions updated. We also believe this could help with transitioning some organisations from being partner billed to direct billed which will increase revenue for Xero.

Hi community, with a recent update to the client export you now get a column for Subscriber email address. With the export file you can then filter the Subscriber email address column to exclude the practice's email and determine which of your clients own their own subscription. 🙂

  4. Currently, only some distribution amounts flow automatically from a Trust tax return to the Individual and Company beneficiary returns, and others have to be manually entered. There is also no clear area to enter these items into the individual and company returns.
This leaves room for error and causes efficiency and quality issues.
Our previous system handled this very well. It had a specific schedule for this type of distribution income.

All distributed amounts, including capital gains and foreign income should be auto transferred to the correct labels into the beneficiary tax returns.

Hiya everyone, we have just released changes for 2024 tax returns. As part of this we're pleased to share that for the Trust Income Schedule foreign income and Capital Gains Tax events will now distribute from the trust return into non-individual tax returns. 🎉

Thank you for all sharing and engaging with us in the idea, here.

  5. Can you please update Advisor Published Reports to have the option to not print the date in the footer.

Very annoying that Xero makes changes without providing an option (tick box) to not show dates in the footer of our final product to the client (Financial Statement templates) and are now forced to just live with this enhancement we did not want. Fine to be printed on other reports.

Hey community - thanks to everyone that shared their feedback on this idea.

As you might have noticed, this was a change made in response to our other highly requested idea 'Reporting - Show date and time stamp report was run'

However, the feedback from accountants and bookkeepers has been that this feature is not necessary for published reports. As such, we've gone ahead and turned off dates in the footer of published reports.

You'll still have access to date stamps in all your other reports, but they'll now be removed when a report is published.

  6. I see you have recently livened up the functionality for R&D Intensive Companies to claim 14.5% tax credit, but only for accounting periods commencing on or after 1st April 2023. Will you be adding functionality for companies with periods commencing prior to 1st April but ending after 1st April 2023? We have some clients with December 2023 year ends who are R&D intensive and would like to claim the additional relief for expenditure from 1st April 2023.

    Thanks

Hi team, this is now live! 🎉We now cater for enhanced R&D intensive support (ERIS) allowing you to claim a higher rate of payable tax credit for R&D intensive companies. You'l find this is available for any accounting periods that straddle April 2023 and beyond.

  7. You can only select one photo at a time from your phone to upload to Hubdoc via the mobile app. It would be nice to be able to select multiple photos of receipts to upload at once.

It makes such a difference for customers who travel and take pictures of receipts - It takes up too much time for them to have to individually upload them to the app - so then they don't do it, and I have to chase - so I'd love to see this feature in the mobile app itself.

Hi everyone, pleased to share that it is now possible to upload up to 10 images at once via the Hubdoc mobile app. Images can be bulk uploaded using the camera capture or your device’s gallery. Thank you all for sharing with us here.

  8. Under new rules in Finance Bill 2023/24 (which was given Royal Assent on 22 February 2024), R&D intensive loss making companies can claim a repayable tax credit of 14.5% where their R&D expenditure is 40% or more of their total expenditure (rather than the 10% credit that applies from 1 April 2023).

Please can you build this functionality into Xero Tax, so that the 14.5% tax credit can be claimed for R&D intensive companies.

  9. When inputting a bill to pay, the default "due date" should be calculated automatically (per your settings / usual trading / 30days etc) - and then you amend this IF different.... having to always enter a due date is a pain

  10. Now that you've forcible inserted every single client as a line item in Xero HQ via Single Client Record, we NEED the ability to filter search results to only show client lines with Xero files attached.

Example: searching for 'Lee' used to result in 3 client Xero files - now it results in 598.

    This is literally unusable.

EDIT: There is a filter for TYPE of subscription; I do not and could not care less whether a client has a Ledger, GST Cashbook, Starter, Premium, whatever other tier you care to make up.

    I just NEED a tickbox to toggle…

    Quick turn around here! 🎉We've just released enhancements to our XHQ Client list filtering. We've expanded the filters to include;

    • Banks connected
    • Financial Year
    • Organisation connected

As mentioned earlier the organisation filter will help with what you're after here by filtering by clients with or without an organisation attached. Thanks, and keep sharing with us through Product ideas🙂

Appreciate the feedback, Emily. Can see what you mean with the report heading and I shared this back with the team. Today we've just released a change to the Payroll Employee Summary report so 'Reimbursement' has now been shortened to 'Reimb' 😊 so this will all fit in the one line now.

  12. Add an additional dot point to the Individual Return tax calc disclaimer:
. This assessment does not include Division 293 tax that might apply to taxpayers where adjusted income exceeds the Division 293 threshold. Where applicable, Division 293 tax is charged at 15% of certain superannuation contributions.

Hey community, thanks for raising this as a Product Idea!

Earlier this year, we added in a warning for users affected by either Division 293 or excess super contribution tax.

This warning will appear on the print outs of estimates for returns from FY23 onwards.

You can read a little more about this on our Superannuation Contributions worksheet article over on Xero Central.

  13. This would reduce the number of duplicated payments - where clients pay the ATO under a Super Charge Statement, then pay again through Xero super once staff fund details become available.

Hi Alice, this is already possible. From the Draft assets tab within Fixed assets you can select All or multiple assets that are listed and then click Register. As long as the assets are complete they will be registered.

  15. Search job list by client, at the moment you have to scroll through the job list to find the job you are looking for, which when the job list is very large this is frustrating. It is easier to go to clients, search the client, then go to the jobs list. But this is not very time effective when you know what you are looking for or just want to check if there are jobs in there for a certain client.

Excited to share that along with my recent update on the ability to filter by client, you can now search by client from the Practice Manager All jobs table!

Typing a client name in the search field will now show you a list of jobs related to a client.😁

Thank you all for your support and sharing on how we could improve your experience when using Job Manager for your Practice.

  16. We can use a single incoming bank item for multiple invoices or expenses, but I've noticed the converse isn't true.

I had an issue at an eatery where the staff didn't get my food order until everything was paid. So one line came in for drinks and another for food. I filed the entire trip under one expense item.

When it came through Xero, the reconciliation didn't enjoy that I was trying to attribute two items to a single expense.

Thanks for the feedback here, We're going to shift this idea to delivered. As mentioned in my last update - you can record the expense as a bill in Xero, which enables you to apply multiple payments when reconciling. While you can only reconcile one statement line at a time, you can reconcile more than one statement line to a single bill or invoice.

It's worth noting spend money is treated as a direct payment, so you can only match this on a one-one basis and you would need to enter one spend money transactions for each portion of the payment.

  17. Hi there,
Absolutely loving the new 'hide' note function in the financial statement templates. This is a much appreciated update! Could we look into adding an option for certain notes to be hidden by default in the adviser report templates? The reason being, that our firm uses a standardised template that includes a number of accounting policy notes that may not be applicable for all entity types. Our current process was to delete the notes that were not relevant and there are a number of notes that are irrelevant more often than not. If we had the ability to hide…

Hi team, this is now available to everyone! 🎉 You'll now find you can manually hide a note (text block or schedule) in the master practice report templates.

Thanks for contributing here in Product ideas and letting us know the changes that matter to you 😊

  18. Currently when users take photos of receipts on the app they do not have the ability to add a note. This would be great so that the admin person coding the receipt can receive some additional detail regarding the purchase.

Hey community - just a quick note to let everyone know this is now live 🎉

Last week we rolled out an update to Hubdoc for all users, that allows you to add notes to uploaded documents!

You can read more about this update over on our "Xero product releases" page.

  19. Good morning,

I am preparing a set of financials in Xero Reports for a client. One thing I find that takes up time is when the financials have limited account items, and I still need to use the Notes to the Financial Statements.

To save time it would be great if we could delete multiple empty notes at once instead of using the time-consuming process of pressing the three dots and deleting or hiding them individually.

    Many thanks.

Thanks for your interactions with the team, Tim. I wanted to round back to confirm for everyone here that we've now added some automation to Report Templates, so now any 'empty' schedules will automatically be hidden when publishing or exporting the reports from Xero Blue. 😊

  20. Many our trust clients have investments in managed funds, e.g. Macquarie Wrap, etc. Unlike ITR, currently there is no "Distributions from Managed Funds" worksheet in TRT. This means, we need to enter Capital Gains and Foreign Income in the separate sections from "Distributions from Partnership/Trust" worksheet. It would be great if all components from Managed Funds distributions can be entered into one worksheet.

Hiya everyone, this is now possible with the introduction of the Trust Income Schedule that's been made available through Xero Tax in Australia!

You'll find if a trust or beneficiary relationship has been set up in the client’s screen, these distributions save automatically from the trust return into the receiving return’s Trust Income Schedule - Read more on our changes through Xero Central.
