AU Payroll Employee Summary - Filter by Employee Groups
Went to filter my Payroll Employee Summary by employee Groups to show my Apprentices income for Payroll Tax Reporting and it's gone? Why? I've got to say it's getting really irritating that Xero features keep being removed overnight.
A suggestion - do not remove a feature and replace it until the new function does at a MINIMUM the same standard of functionality that was previously offered. Otherwise you're going to get alot of annoyed and fed up paying customers.
FYI - it's not hard for us as an accounting practice firm to migrate away from Xero if you continue to…
31 votesHey everyone, we appreciate your feedback and hearing what our customers need most when using this report.
Following the release of the new Payroll Employee Summary report found under the Accounting > Reports menu, we have done a recent update to enable the ability to filter by Employee Group. -
NZ Tax - Add warning on IR4J if 7E and 8D are zero
NZ Tax -New item added Audit Check orange warnings - a check that advises the preparer that IR4J boxes 7E (Total Credits) and 8D (Total Debits) if they are zero and is this correct. This would check that the IR4J has been completed as this is occasionally missed
The audit check button should be available before the return is completed
17 votesHey community, this is now possible! 🎉The team have added new warnings on the IR4 which display if box 7E or 8D are zero. These warnings will show when there's no entry in these boxes and invite you to review the return.
Thank you for all your inputs here - we appreciate your feedback, it helps us to continue to shape the future of NZ Tax at Xero.

Xero HQ - Client List to indicate who owns subscription
We're looking to add an indicator as to subscription ownership for the Xero HQ client list. This is just to say if the organisation is billed directly to the partner or if the partner is invited in and the client is responsible for the subscription.
This will be crucial for the Spark and Helix rollout to help customers work through with their clients and get subscriptions updated. We also believe this could help with transitioning some organisations from being partner billed to direct billed which will increase revenue for Xero.
20 votesHi community, with a recent update to the client export you now get a column for Subscriber email address. With the export file you can then filter the Subscriber email address column to exclude the practice's email and determine which of your clients own their own subscription. 🙂

AU Tax - Trust tax returns | Foreign income should flow through to ITR and CTRs
Currently, only some distribution amounts flow automatically from a Trust tax return to the Individual and Company beneficiary returns, and others have to be manually entered. There is also no clear area to enter these items into the individual and company returns.
This leaves room for error and causes efficiency and quality issues.
Our previous system handled this very well. It had a specific schedule for this type of distribution income. All distributed amounts, including capital gains and foreign income should be auto transferred to the correct labels into the beneficiary tax returns.
56 votesHiya everyone, we have just released changes for 2024 tax returns. As part of this we're pleased to share that for the Trust Income Schedule foreign income and Capital Gains Tax events will now distribute from the trust return into non-individual tax returns. 🎉
Thank you for all sharing and engaging with us in the idea, here.

Option to remove the "Date" in Footer of Advisor Published Reports
Can you please update Advisor Published Reports to have the option to not print the date in the footer.
Very annoying that Xero makes changes without providing an option (tick box) to not show dates in the footer of our final product to the client (Financial Statement templates) and are now forced to just live with this enhancement we did not want. Fine to be printed on other reports.
58 votesHey community - thanks to everyone that shared their feedback on this idea.
As you might have noticed, this was a change made in response to our other highly requested idea 'Reporting - Show date and time stamp report was run'.
However, the feedback from accountants and bookkeepers has been that this feature is not necessary for published reports. As such, we've gone ahead and turned off dates in the footer of published reports.
You'll still have access to date stamps in all your other reports, but they'll now be removed when a report is published.

My Xero - Visual indicator of reconciled client files
We have an issue with our Xero clients where we ask them to reconcile their accounts and let us know once completed so we can process their BAS.
The problem is that they never let us know so we have to go in to each client and see if they have reconciled up to the end of the prior period. This is very time consuming.
Is there a way that on the My Xero screen, there can be a column with some kind of indicator when a month or period has been completed?
This could be a quick visual guide…
20 votesHi everyone, as of today we've launched client insights for Partners which is available within Xero HQ and Xero Practice Manager. This screen gives you a view of all your clients and key indicators to help you analyse and compare how your clients are doing, in one place. As part of this you can see the number of unreconciled transactions a client has - their value and date, and judge whether the unreconciled transactions are likely to make a material difference to what you see on the insights dashboard. See more on this feature in our blog. 🙂

UK Xero Tax - R&D intensive for period prior to 1st April 23
I see you have recently livened up the functionality for R&D Intensive Companies to claim 14.5% tax credit, but only for accounting periods commencing on or after 1st April 2023. Will you be adding functionality for companies with periods commencing prior to 1st April but ending after 1st April 2023? We have some clients with December 2023 year ends who are R&D intensive and would like to claim the additional relief for expenditure from 1st April 2023.
Thanks
12 votesHi team, this is now live! 🎉We now cater for enhanced R&D intensive support (ERIS) allowing you to claim a higher rate of payable tax credit for R&D intensive companies. You'l find this is available for any accounting periods that straddle April 2023 and beyond.

Xero - Aged Receivables Analysis Report (30 Days instead of < 1 Month)
Option to show AR Summary or Detailed Report with "30 Days" instead of "< 1 Month" shown and likewise for other columns, such as "60 Days" instead of "1 Month".
2 votesHi Kyle, you can do this by editing the Ageing periods of the report 😊. For example you could change this to # periods of '30' and drop down to select Day instead of month.

AU Payroll Employee Summary - Filter by Employee Groups
Employee Group is an option inside normal Xero for Personnel Officer to filter and generate different reports to support their lives and legal requirements.
Xero has this option, and removed this function without a follow up. This is not make sense.
I found this problem was listed since March 2024 and still do not have a solution.Recently I raise a case support and checking with Payroll Specialist and got a reply that Xero has a bug and require the user to contact the Product Team and raise an idea here to see any chance to get an improvement, or…
2 votesSorry for the back and forth, Rossetti. To confirm for all - While it's not possible to select certain individual employees, you can use the Payroll Activity Details report to view a total hours for an employee group.
If the employees are all part of the same group in payroll, you'll be able to run the report for that employee group for the required date range. While we don't currently have any plans right now for developing the ability to select multiple employees from the list, we hope the employee group option can accommodate your needs.

Hubdoc - Upload multiple photos at once via the mobile app
You can only select one photo at a time from your phone to upload to Hubdoc via the mobile app. It would be nice to be able to select multiple photos of receipts to upload at once.
It makes such a difference for customers who travel and take pictures of receipts - It takes up too much time for them to have to individually upload them to the app - so then they don't do it, and I have to chase - so I'd love to see this feature in the mobile app itself.
10 votesHi everyone, pleased to share that it is now possible to upload up to 10 images at once via the Hubdoc mobile app. Images can be bulk uploaded using the camera capture or your device’s gallery. Thank you all for sharing with us here.

Xero Sign - Default wording template
It would be helpful to be able to change the default wording in the Xero sign email and even select from various templates.
Currently the default email is very generic and lacks the tone our practice uses.
3 votesHi Geraint, it's possible to edit e-sign email templates 😊 You'll see an option within Xero Sign Settings. See more information on this, here.

1099s - Fully integrate the 1099 Contact page with main Contact page
Xero finally added Legal Name & Business Name fields so we can actually file 1099s properly for sole proprietors that have a different legal name than the contact name. This was a critical improvement But now we have to toggle between two different contact pages because there isn't full integration between the 1099 Contact page and the main Contact page. We want to set up vendors properly from the start, get a W9 on file before our client even pays a vendor ideally (and we're not always going to use your W9 link), and so when we get that W9,…
8 votesHi team, we appreciate your feedback and sharing with us here. We've made some changes in this space and recently released a new 'Tax Details' section for US customers in Contacts.
This allows you to request W-9s from a contact you've set up in Xero, and you'll also be able to see a contacts W-9 status and manually update this if needed.
Additional fields have been added for 'Name on the income tax return' (this was previously 'Legal name') and 'Business or disregarded entity name' in Contacts to match the 1099 W-9 Management space.

Xero Tax (UK) | Additional tax relief for Research and Development intensive small and medium-sized enterprises
Under new rules in Finance Bill 2023/24 (which was given Royal Assent on 22 February 2024), R&D intensive loss making companies can claim a repayable tax credit of 14.5% where their R&D expenditure is 40% or more of their total expenditure (rather than the 10% credit that applies from 1 April 2023).
Please can you build this functionality into Xero Tax, so that the 14.5% tax credit can be claimed for R&D intensive companies.
See below for further details:
5 votesHi community, this has now been released and we cater for enhanced Research & Development(R&D) intensive support (ERIS) allowing you to claim a higher rate of payable tax credit for R&D intensive companies. This update is available for accounting periods beginning on or after 1 April 2023.

Date Order of Account Transactions
In 'Account Transactions', it would be useful to be able to specify the date order - latest first or, as now, oldest first.
1 voteYou can click the Date header in the Account Transactions tab of the bank account to sort by Date, Gordon.
Clicking once will sort newest-first and a second click will switch the order to oldest-first.

1099s - Exclude PayPal transactions from 1099 reports.
PayPal transactions should be excluded from 1099 reports but they are currently included.
7 votesHi everyone, we have just released a change for the 1099 reports. Now, PayPal, Stripe and Venmo transactions are auto-excluded from 1099 reports based on the description of the item in an Invoice or Bill. Or, the reference in an Invoice or Bill 😊
We appreciate your interest and sharing with us for the idea here. Thanks

Advisor Reports (financials) - hide empty notes in report templates
You heartily pat yourself on the back for a job well done in the latest blog post re: product updates, while missing the point completely.
Cool, you now hide empty notes in the financials automatically, but you DON'T recast the numbering of the notes, so I still have to go through and click '...' -> 'Hide' anyway.
Looking at the Balance Sheet before doing this the numbering goes:
- 2
- 3
- 5
- 15Not very professional now, is it.
2 votesThanks for feeding back on this with us here, Paul. We appreciate that you'd like Xero to auto renumber notes on screen where they are automatically hidden in report templates. While there is a bit of complexity in being able to do this, our team have ensured Xero will automatically renumber notes on any published or exported documents, keeping your reports consistent and professional.

Bank Report
In the old reports there was a bank report, (Detailed Account Transaction Report) that you could pull up the bank account and it would show the bank entries and where they had been coded. This is not longer available. Alternatively, could the code be added to the Bank reconciliation page where it shows the entries.
1 voteHi Penny, this is available within the Account Transactions report and you'll find a common option of Bank transactions by date which includes the account the transactions have been coded to. I believe this is the report you're looking for here.

Cash Coding - Selecting many transactions at once
Cash Coding - Ability to select many transactions at once, not by ticking one by one.
Example on the attached. I have like thousand of these transactions, and I had to tick them one by one to be able to reconcile them.
1 voteHi Danica, the select options in cash coding work similar to spreadsheets. There is the check box at the top of the grid that allows you to select all so you could then just uncheck the lines you don't want to reconcile.
Alternatively, if you select a line and hold down Shift on your keyboard you'll be able to select multiple lines by clicking down or up to the line to bulk select. 😊

Bill due date
When inputting a bill to pay, the default "due date" should be calculated automatically (per your settings / usual trading / 30days etc) - and then you amend this IF different.... having to always enter a due date is a pain
2 votesHi Lyn, it's already possible to set default due dates for bills via the Invoice settings, or on individual suppliers via their contact record. 😊
In the same way you do for invoices and quote you can follow the steps here to set a default due date for all bills. Separately if you'd like different due dates for individual suppliers you can edit their Default Purchase settings within their contact record.

GST Transactions - totals per GST type for mixed-GST users.
GST Transactions - we have organizations that use mixed GST codes in accordance with IRD ruling. It appears the GST report no longer sub-totals per GST code (eg. we have 3.39% rate and 15% rate and a previously used rate 2.95%). It would be helpful for the reports to provide subtotals after a change in tax code use, to provide a further level for the user to check
1 voteHi Trish, you can change the report format to transactions by tax rate which'll provide what you're after here 🙂
