Report Templates - Add Tracking summary report
add more reports into report template, for example payroll report and tracking summary. Thank you.
57 votesHi team, this report has been split out from a previous one that requested the addition of both payroll and tracking summary reports to Report Templates. It's unlikely both these reports would be added at once, and it's good to track the interest in each.
While we have just released a new Tracking Summary report in Xero this isn't something that's been added to Report Templates just yet, if there are any plans for this we'll let you know here. Thanks

Report Templates - Trust tax rate 39% 2025 and 33% in comparatives in annual accounts tax note
The NZ tax rate for a trust's income tax has changed in the 2025 tax year from 33% to 39% when the taxable income in the trust is $10,000 or more.
At present we are not able to have a different formula in comparatives to the formula in current year, so a modification to the If( . . ) statement in the current annual accounts tax note cannot be made that would work for 2025 and comparatives.At the moment the only solution available per Xero Support is a custom line, with accounting staff manually entering the tax payable amount…

Currently, there's no functionality in Xero to have a single row have two different formulas for each column, or have two columns appear when grouped. (Example, the 2024 column cannot be calculated with 33% tax if the formula for the row is calculated with 39%)
Right now as Paul's noted 🙏, we'd recommend using a 'Custom' row in the Notes report and have the row heading be similar to 'Tax Payable (33% 2024, 39% 2025)'.
In doing so, you'll then be able to manually input the figures into this section of the notes report after you click 'Update layout'.
We don't have any immediate plans for developing this capability, but I want to assure you interest for this has been shared with our product team and we'll update you if there's any news.

Report Templates - Tier 3 Report update
Very disappointed to hear that you haven't considered how the new reporting standards for Tier 3 entities is going to effect the reporting templates i.e. the requirement to split grants into multiple sub-categories, which is only one area of the new reporting standards that needs to be expanded.
Would you be able to make this a high priority for the product team and provide a reasonable timeframe as to when this will be considered for further development as obviously we need to meet our obligations and your reporting mapping is no longer going to make this easy for us given…25 votes -
Xero HQ fixed assets - Lookup to ATO Effective Life
In the Fixed Assets module, it would be helpful to have the option to link to the ATO's Effective Life tables when adding a new asset. This feature would allow users to search for the Effective Life of an asset. It should also be possible to overwrite this value, allowing you to input a different number of years if they choose to self-assess. Having access to the ATO's guidance would be extremely helpful.

New staff Experience - Assign organisation user permissions within Practice tools
In the new staff experience, it's only possible to assign staff members the Advisor or None role for a Xero organisation. It would be good to have blue Xero organisation roles available to select so to give my staff the correct permission from within practice tools (HQ/XPM)

Xero HQ - Connect client record when receiving subscription transfer request
Upon accepting a subscription transfer request, it would be great to have an option to "link to existing client record" or "create a new client record". There's currently no option for this and this creates double-up entries in Xero HQ which need to be manually removed, re-linked and archived.

Report Templates - Add GST reports
It would be good if any report you can already run in Xero could be added to a report template - this would include GST reports (activity statement and GST reconciliation), payroll reports etc. That way instead of having to manually extract each of these reports for each client we can just do it in bulk through one report template.

Log into more than one company
It would be really useful to be able to log into more than one company on an reference basis only. I'm often in the middle of something when I am asked a question relating to another company by a colleague or client. I have to log out just to find one bit of information. I might have multiple windows open with different reports etc that I then lose. This is also very important when working on related companies to see intercompany loans in both companies at once. Appreciate not the ideal solution but you could use incognito mode atm, to open the organisation you need to reference?

Xero HQ: archived clients with subscriptions.
Be able to export list of archived clients, especially if they still have xero subscription that was missed to cancel. So that these can be easily reviewed.
We are paying Xero for no reason at all.
Also the ability to bulk change those archived clients eg cancel subscriptions
Perhaps when clients are archived there should be something to flag to remember to do something with the subscription eg cancel or transfer.

New Xero HQ Staff page - ability to filter to client groups when assigning clients to staff
On the old Xero HQ staff page, you could click on the staff member, add clients, and then filter to client groups.
With the new Xero HQ Staff page layout, this ability has been lost and it's vital for adding clients in bulk to particular office groups, particularly for our new starters.

Detailed Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet report in one click
A report function where we can generate a detailed Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet report in one click. It's very manual on the current set up where we generate this from Account Transaction Report. This will help us to generate a more accurate report and make our job much easier.

While there isn't a direct filter for account codes in Xero right now, you could potentially explore the option to use Contact groups or tracking categories to help sort clients in this report.

Default tracking categories for each bank account
Some charities maintain separate bank accounts for each fund. This works well where different staff/volunteers have delegated authority over specific funds, e.g. an outreach activity or youth work. It would be SO helpful for coding payments/receipts, if Xero would allow us to set default funds (tracking categories) according to the bank account. This is for coding payments directly from the bank statement, where Xero invoices or bills are not used.
