  1. On the Income Tax workpaper, the first section Tax Provision per P&L has a Less PAYG installments (sic) section.
    Xero prefills the dates (e.g. for 2020 FY workpapers):
    September 2019
    December 2019
    March 2020
    June 2020

    All good so far, you can enter the PAYG Instalments that will be included on the tax return.
    The final line FY20 Tax to pay/(refund) then agrees to the company tax return.

    The second section Balance Sheet Income Tax Reconciliation has a Less PAYG installments (sic) section.

  2. Enable use for non-Xero clients

    For non-Xero clients, it would be very useful to be able to use Workpapers by importing client trial balances. Kindly update when this feature will be available.

  3. Ability to upload multiple documents to workpaper queries at one time, currently can only select and upload one document at time which can be quite time consuming if a client has supplied you with 12 months bank statements to upload. I note this bulk upload feature is available when saving supporting documents to workpapers so not sure why this functionality can be expanded to include queries?

  4. Why do we need to have all of the 'Z do not use' sections appear when setting up a new pack that then need to be unticked? It would be better to have them unticked in the first place

  6. Opportunity to provide explanations for significant changes in balances (specifically profit and loss items):

    • It would be useful if the PNL review section of Xero Workpapers had an area to incorporate commentary on significant variances or that a balance is not material and therefore no further work on the balance has been performed.
    • This would add value in that you won't have to upload separate documents for each profit and loss line item

  7. The ability to sort Activity Statement "Transactions by Rate" report by 'account code'. This makes the detailed report much easier to review and pick up mistakes. MYOB has always had this function and it is a good time saver. Much easier to look through the report

  9. We need a report that is cash basis and can have number of items sold during a time period. This report also needs revenue totals and allow a tracking category. Essentially this is to produce a report to determine Royalties that are due on some products that are sold.

  10. Re the home office workpaper. It seems to calculate soley on a percentage basis yet under DB 18AA, we can claim interest/rent and rates in proportion of business use, as well as $47.85 (for 2022 and future years) per square metre (PSMR) (IRD square meterage rates) as a proxy for general home expenditure. There doesn't seem to be a workaround in the workpaper to opt for the PSMR for the general expenditure claim? I would like to claim the higher of the two calculations for my clients' thanks and would love to see the workpaper work out the better of…

  11. Ability to customise the mapping of the workpaper hotlinks!

    The hotlink feature in workpapers is pretty neat in that it will automatically link in the relevent reports however this could be even more powerful with some very minor teaks.

    Firstly the new style reports would be a good start for replacement but what would be even better then this is the ability to amend the hotlink reports for clients either on a by client or practise level... i.e. if we had the ability to link in customised reports instead of just having the transaction report linked in - I know…

    Just a suggestion.

    I wonder if we can please make the depreciation and tax depreciation report setting to automatically default to the last saved setting instead of having to save it as default report and without saving it into drafts? Similar to Wrike workflow product.

  17. Currently, if I am looking at a Workpaper and I click on the Flag next to an account, I can add a Review Point for that account.

    That review point shows up in the list at the bottom of the workpaper.

    If I click the flag next to the account, I can see the review points that have been added to that account... but I can't see the replies to those review points and nobody can reply to them from that area.

    I have to scroll down to the bottom to reply to the review point.

  19. We are using the 'Client Queries' function for the first time this year.

    In Workpapers, each time a request for information is sent to a client, the 'Queries History' logs that an email was sent to the client, however there is no record of the content of the email sent for the client.

    We usually would save all emails to clients on file so that anything can be clarified if needed, but have noticed there is no ability to view the email content.

  20. Can there be a date period added to calculate the averages on this report?
    We do not find "The average in the account is calculated based on all transaction lines in the account for the life of the organisation" to be of use unfortunately.
