  1. When using Xero tax for sole trader self assessments, and importing the Xero sole trader accounts, it would be so useful to generate reports that don't include the balance sheet, i.e. it would be better if one could edit the reports according to an individual requirements/reporting needs.

    Hi everyone, thanks for your interest in this idea. Although we haven't enabled the option to exclude a balance sheet from sole trader accounts within Xero HQ we wanted to share this very exciting update with you. We recently released a direct import of the P&L from Xero onto the self-employment worksheet within Personal Tax, without the need to map the account codes and generate a set of sole trader accounts.

    Previously we only supported an import from Sole Trader Accounts to Personal Tax which for some of our partners involved an extra step, particularly for smaller clients who typically only receive Income & Expenditure accounts. We hope by adding this functionality that you will be able to maximise the more flexible reporting capabilities within Xero to produce accounts for sole traders.     Thanks for raising as an idea here, Inna. While it's not possible to delete a tax agents logo atm you could upload a blank white picture as the logo where you'd like to remove the existing. 

    We don't have any direct plans around this atm, but we'll get a sense of the interest here and let you know if there's any progress.

  3. In Xero Tax when we save the completed tax return for the client as PDF for email, is there an option to hide other sensitive information in addition to the TFN, such as date of birth, address and bank details.

  4. As 'Blue Xero' supports a 'Not for Profit' organisation, it disappointing that an accompanying
    CT600 cannot be produced in Xero Tax for a charity.

Recent new requirements from the ATO mean that businesses have to nominate new BAS and tax agents via ATO Online Services for Business, before the Agent can add them on their end (on ATO Client Services for Agents). This requires the tax payer to have set up MyGovID, gone into RAM and log into ATO Online Services for Business. The majority of clients have no idea how to do any of this. It would be good, if there was a way that they could nominate the Agent from Xero instead. Perhaps the linking of the Xero file to the ATO…

  7. Hi,
    In tax returns for clients that have a business schedule in their ITR, when an asset is fully depreciated, in the following year it disappears from the tax return and depreciation schedule altogether.

    Is there a way assets can remain on the depreciation schedule? It is very handy to have a full depreciation schedule for all assets, particularly if clients sell assets in the following years.

  8. I believe there should be an option to run a report which shows which tax returns / activity statements have been amended and lodged as a revised version for your whole client database. Without this, there is no current way of knowing the amount of revised returns / activity statements that you have lodged which can be a problem.

  9. Have a separate tick box to include/exclude the detailed disclosure (separate from other schedules).

    We would like to be able to print schedules where required but not show all of the detail for the asset and liabilities disclosure. Allow us to select which schedules get printed with the tax return, rather than the all or nothing approach.

  10. Currently there is no option to create a worksheet behind the trust distribution income at 6E, when completing company tax returns with a trust distribution income (eg from investments). You need to enter the gross distribution at 6E and record attached franking credits separately in the calculation statement at 'Refundable tax offsets'. It creates confusion for some of the junior staff as they can easily put this amount at 7J as franking credits which isn't correct.

  11. Hello,

    I would like for Xero to automatically calculate the VAT returns accurately when switching from a VAT scheme to another. Currently, we need to manually adjust the returns to avoid any duplications caused by the transition. There is room for a lot of human error when doing this and I believe this feature is extremely important.

  12. Currently if a tax letter email fails to send, for whatever reason, there is no email notification it failed to send. The system really needs to be enhanced so the person who sent the tax letter from XPM gets an email notification that the tax letter failed to send to that email address. Currently it is just blind faith that all letters are sent which is clearly not good.

    Our team is looking into this idea, however, they don't have any dates planned on when they’ll develop a notification to let you know whether a tax letter has failed to send. We understand that this feature is important so that you can be certain your clients have received their tax payment reminder letters.

    We are monitoring your feedback and votes here, so please keep adding them in this thread. For the time being, I’ll move this idea into ‘Under review’ status, and if there's any movement, we'll make sure to come back and update you here.

  13. We are required to enter invoice numbers and tax ID numbers of suppliers when loading taxes onto the local tax returns portal. Is there any specific report that allows to generate a report that shows, supplier tax ID, supplier invoice number, total invoice amount and total tax included, all together in a repor, so that our tax filing is hassle free.

    Hi everyone, though appreciative of the idea. This is a function available through the Xero Tax Product with a Xero advisor, and we don’t have plans for developing this capability from within a Xero organisation.

    You can find an advisor to suit your full business needs through Advisor Connect.

  15. Superannuation Lump Sum
    I am new to Xero Tax and trying to set up previous years tax returns for going live in FY2024.
    I have several clients that have been paid superannuation lump sums in the past and I am can't put the historical data into the return which is needed as there are limits on these payments

  19. This can be entered in the losses area of the tax statement, but does not pull into the next years tax return so is a complete waste of time.
    Normal losses pull through but these rental ones do not.
    Please fix this issue.
    These and normal losses should pull through from IRD - we shouldn't have to enter these manually as we currently do.

  20. Every year we have to manually create tax returns for each client - would be great if the client is listed as an existing client on both XPM and ATO that XPM can bulk create the tax returns for that relevant year run. This would cut down a lot of admin time.
