XPM - Apply Access Restrictions to Client tab
Similar to ability to restrict access to Xero Tax, its critical if we can have the ability to restrict access to certain client details. Currently you can search for any client details and there is no way to restrict access to this information. This functionality would be extra help for partners & staff members who are also clients of the firm.

Are Xero able to advise when this issue will be dealt with?
Looks like over two years of frustrated requests by users and still no action.

This is a function which is so important when you are dealing with a variety of levels of team seniority and when you have partners wanting to use Xero Tax for their own personal tax returns! We don't all want the team to see what we have going on!

I had, incorrectly, assumed that the restricted access to tax returns meant this applied across the board. Clearly not - staff can still view all detail via tax reports, statements etc. It is critical that this restricted access be applied at client level and apply to all information - at a minimum restricted access should be all tax information including returns, reports, statements...!! (Having a duplicate XPM to deal with these is not a realistic long term solution). URGENT.

I am also working with a couple of independent contractors to bring in their clients and lodge tax returns supervised by me. So, if Xero cannot provide the level of security I require then the only option for me is to look for a system that can.
These contractors can now see all of my accounting and tax clients as well as just their own tax clients.
This is a hopeless situation.
Xero seems to have morphed into an IT system for IT people rather than an accounting and tax system for accountants. -

This function is critical, it is imperative that we can offer clients and their required level of security and privacy. Please action this. Thank you.

Xero single client list has caused unwanted client duplications in our XPM system. A good workaround for this would be if we could apply restrictions to the duplicated client profile in XPM so as not to confuse staff etc.
We also, like others, have clients that are sensitive eg. Directors of the firm, that we would like hidden from general staff view.

This is a privacy issue and is critical for our confidential clients, and for staff who use the system for their tax returns. Having home addresses, TFN, dob etc visible to all staff is not acceptable for these type of clients.
We have had to create separate instances of Xero PM/Tax to overcome this deficiency. -

This is so important.

This is extremely important if we want to restrict details of specific clients especially renowned personalities or partners information.

This is a very import feature & majority of the software should have it, we look forward for a software that allows us to freely allocate access for different clients, different tax access to partners & staff at our choice. But the functions now in Xero Tax & even XRM not making sense, staff are either getting all clients details viewing rights or none, only difference is viewing tax returns. Clients details are confidential information, not sure why Xero's default setting is viewing all clients details once invited staff...This function is very important & very basic, you are partner with BGL, BGL have this function from the very start. Disappoint... after one year of Andy's posting, there is still no change/updates to this.

We have been approached by a new client who required extreme privacy and wants us to restrict access to our staff regarding their information. They had issues with a previous practice where their information was not restricted so staff members were able to access their private address and other information. We are unable to offer this service due to the lack of ability within the system, so we are losing the ability to take on these clients.
Our previous system had this feature and it worked really well.
The ATO have this available so can't see why Xero can't implement it.
This is extremely frustrating as it stops our ability to grow our practice. -

Of course, this is critical function a good system should have.
From my perspective, I am working with a couple of independent contractors to bring in their clients and lodge tax returns supervised by me. So, if Xero cannot provide the level of security I require then the only option for me is to look for a system that can.

This is very important as a matter of privacy if Partners/staff have their details in XPM - they should only be accessible to who they see as necessary.
It is also important for the privacy of clients, in some instances clients may only want specific staff having access to their information.. -

This Critical as we don't want give access to all clients to accountants especially when they are newly recruited. Also useful for SMSF accountant to have SMSF client access only

This is a privacy issue and is critical to ensure we can meet the requirements for our confidential clients. Having their home address, TFN, dob etc open to all staff is a significant issue for these clients. We have more and more clients requesting confidentiality and we are not able to achieve this for them.

As we have a range of staff with all levels of seniority and also all levels of maturity it only makes sense to restrict access to privileged information based on those factors.
Notwithstanding that, if other staff and Partners/Business Principles have their details in XPM - they should only be accessible to whom that individual deems necessary
