Client access to Report Templates
Client access to Report Templates
In Xero HQ as a partner we have the ability to create report packages however it is only for use within our practice, it would be really helpful if we had the option to share these with our clients.

I created several reports in Xero HQ which is fantastic. Some of them like indirect Casfhlow would be nice to share with my customers. Sure it can give me some MRR if they need to call me every month, but it would be great being able to share it with them...

We are in the same position as David Smith. As a non-profit, with qualified accountants involved in the annual accounts process, we should have access to these templates, not have to pay thousands of dollars for this. This needs to be resolved immediately.

Can Xero make annual reports template available to internal accountants? It takes so much time to download reports to excel spreadsheet and then word documents. It costs thousands of dollars to do get accounting firms to do this.

Locking charities out of doing the required regulatory reports internally is a big impost. Many have qualified volunteers such as retired accountants who are locked out by this policy. It costs charities either money for an Advisor or time to do spreadsheets that are much more error-prone. We hope they are back soon.

Are there any plans for Xero to bring back the ability for internal accountants to prepare their own annual financial statements as we were able to in the past? It doesn't make sense to incur additional external costs for something that can be done inhouse by qualified accountants. It's really disappointing that an accounting software as big as Xero can have these limited capabilities, even if you have done the Xero certification and know your way around financial statements.

I seriously doubt Xero will provide clients access to these templates BASED ON REPORT CODES. Report codes are the way Xero Partners control the reports, not the client. Xero MAY provide templates but they would be BASED on account types and names, not report codes. Thats just asking for trouble.

Having spent more time than I would have expected, mapping report codes to create standard reports for a client's four Xero files, I assumed the client would be able to run these themselves. Very disappointing to now have to create the reports again in each file so the client can access them.

I fully support in making annual financial statement templates available to all, not just Xero partners and practice staff. As a committee member for a not-for-profit, and as an accountant in my paid job, I'm more than capable of preparing annual financials with Notes and a director or committee declaration. Having lost this template just recently, it's very frustrating to now having to manually create this reports. More importantly, previous published reports are useless as you cannot even see those reports with their previous Notes and declarations.

I fully agree that is very disappointing that the Annual Report template is not available unless via a Practice Manager plus I am having difficulty in finding a Practice Manager that can actually help us in just doing the Annual Report

I am in agreement with the comments below.
My decision to implement Xero was based on the ability to draft my own financial statements.
Xero are you planning to bring the report back?

totally agree

This is very disappointing that this functionality has been taken away by non-partners especially given it was done without notice. It is something we have used yearly to prepare out annual financial statements internally by qualified accountant for a number of external sources. This is definitely something that needs to be brought back. As now that we either have to ger accredited or pay extra to go to an external party is not reasonable (and again especially as we were not notified)

How come that Xero removes the Annual report functionality from general users, without notifying them about it? Is XERO aware that creating the AR for small entities makes ca 1/3 of time spent on the entity, and it is the reason why lots of users have chosen XERO? I have prepared tens of AR through my career, I am a chartered accountant, I have been working 5 years in audit and 5 years as a senior financial and management accountant. What makes me not qualified to use the templates from Xero point of view??? And, I am flustered to find out few days before the deadline. XERO, make the template available ASAP!

I agree I have produced Annual Accounts for my members for around 10 years, then suddenly Xero takes this facility away, and provides no help in getting around the problem. BIG BLACK MARK XERO

Taking away functionality with the retirement of the Old Reports - being the Annual Financial Statements Templates breaks the golden rule of software licensing/subscription.
Forcing entities to then go to Xero Partners and have them provide the service is nuts. And to say that we could produce them manually ourselves in the new Reportwriter is alkso nuts when dealing with many instances of Xero. -

sharing these reports with Xero advisors is crucial- please make this work. thanks

SOOO Many reasons for this - Ideally as an owner with many protocols to follow e.g. AML, Privacy & security to name a couple having more access control options for ALL tools would be beneficial - being able to select from HQ ALL the different types of products and levels from ONE is even better. An example is not only for transparency for clients & owning their own data but also for the modern practice engaging with specialist contractors.

If I'm already paying for a programme with a feature that exists, it would make sense to be able to use it rather than having to pay someone else for something that could be easily completed at home.

I agree that it would be useful to share these.
I have a client who has bought a company and wants me to copy their customized reports from the original company over to their new company, but unfortunately that can't be done, and so I'll have to create all 11 reports in the new company, not ideal. :-(

It would be really helpful for any type of entity to have access to report templates. I hope that Xero make this change soon.
