Practice Manager - Relationship Type
Can we please have a general Relationship Type option for relationships such as "family" or "associate"/ partners. This would be for general family relations like siblings, cousins, in-laws etc.
Hi everyone, thanks for sharing the different types of relationships you'd like to be able to track in Practice Manager.
While we're making a lot of improvements to Clients with the new unified experience, we want to be upfront that developing more custom relationships like you're after here isn't on our roadmap.
We'll continue to monitor and track the interest of this idea for future planning, and if there's any change to the status of this one, we'll let you know here.

I would add to this that it would be great to be able to create custom relationship types, as every firm has unique preferences/requirements. For us, I would find a sibling/cousin relationship helpful, as the family structure can get quite confusing in this day and age with different surnames/parents/ etc

yes - even the vague relationship "associate of" is helpful so we know there is a relationship between entities

Superannuation Funds need "Members" relationship. I'm surprised that this isn't an option already. Or make "Beneficiary" available as an option like it is for trusts.
Also to be able to add custom relationships could be good.

Can we please have a relationship type for 'Bookkeeper of'.
We have third party bookkeepers who act for several clients and it would be useful to add them as a contact and associate them as the clients bookkeeper. -

Would be good to have a custom option to add any kind of relationship we need to e.g. siblings / in-laws etc

This is important to our practice as family members often refer one another, and it is also useful for staff not familiar with clients.

I'd also like to add: Successor Director for Companies and Successor Appointer for Trusts.

Unfortunately, Xero is going down the path of not listening to the end user whilst ever increasing prices. Maybe you need to poach someone from BGL to get better functionality in your program.

We would also like to see Sibling added as a relationship type

Even if it's just a custom relationship, so I can fill in what I want (eg sibling of, grandchild of)

I'm disappointed to see this hasn't been implemented yet. This feature is so essential, and I can't imagine it being difficult to add as part of the relationship functionality.

We really need this information field for our client records. It is becoming increasingly important for my team to work collaboratively without needing to access trust deed document.

Maybe take the users feedback rather than your own internal idea's, after all we are the end users Xero

Thanks for the suggestion Melissa. I agree, at a firm level we should have the flexibility to set up the relationship structures that we want to provide value and improve processes in our firm. I would like this suggestion implemented too please.

Can this be made a priority? Would like to see ex-spouse added to the list too. For a number of clients we still represent both husband and wife, although divorced. We don't want a staff member to make an assumption based on surname, or a prior yr return when they were together. How are firms tackling this in the interim?

In the related section of practice manager it would be good to have a bookkeeper option as I am currently using trustee to work around. They need to be linked and available to us.

We have a significant number of unit trusts and the unitholding is the defining factor of a unit trust - so surely it cannot be that hard to add one relationship type to XPM to cover a business structure that is already a default structure in XPM.

I agree, this would be a fantastic addition. At the moment, there is no way to connect and easily search the unit holders and it makes for additional work to search elsewhere.
Thank you Melissa for your suggestion.

Similarly, including the option of having " Shareholder of " selection in the relationship drop down box for SMSF clients
