preview invoice sales tax and non-taxable
In Invoice preview for a non- taxable line item there is a tax rate on the line item. At the bottom where tax is calculated the total tax is correct (it does not include tax on the non-taxable item). It is confusing for a client looking at the invoice, they may think they are being taxed on the non-taxable item. Can invoice preview show 0% tax on the non-taxable item and the correct tax % on the taxable item.

AU Tax - ITR signatory for deceased or incapacitated individuals
Where the individual client title has been changed to "Executor for" or "Representative for" the declarations should also be updated with this information. Currently the declarations still just use the individual name, who may be deceased or unable to sign on their own behalf.

NZ Tax - Automatically create tax returns on recurring jobs
Automatically Create Tax Returns based on the entity type to the recurring yearly jobs.
Hoping if there is a way to get XPM to add the tax returns for an entity and related party when the recurring job is created for each tax type associated to the entity i.e. if its a company then it attaches that financial year's tax return to the job along with the tax type for the associated parties to the same job. This, of course, to be setup once and may need to be tweaked.

AU Tax - Ability to change password for Outcome of Assessment(OoA)
see CX0014868568
can we modify the password settings?
we prefer dd/mm/yyyyor allow us to modify the password in whatever way we see fit.
the current method of dd-Mmm-yyyy with the first letter of the month being capitalise gets cumbersome for clients
1 voteThanks for sharing your idea in the forums here, Christopher. There aren't any plans around this right now, but we'll gain a sense of the interest for being able to edit the password for OoA's from your idea here, and share if there's any news.

AU Tax | Report Builder - More specific fields
We would like to see more custom report options that reflect the returns so we can interrogate and pull information out of Xero tax in relation to clients
In particular, get a list of every client that has a number in the Tax Return Labels – Interest Expense or Interest Expense overseas or Royalty Expenses Overseas - See attach screenshots

Personal tax (UK) - Ability to add payments already made
In Xero Tax, you can enter "Any other payments or credits on account" to show what a client has already paid towards their tax bill. But you can't enter a negative figure (i.e. a refund already received for a return that is being amended) and there is nowhere to add in any outstanding tax from a previous return etc so that the payments report factors this in.
It would be good to be able to have some additional boxes to show these please.

AU Tax - Franking account worksheet
It will be great if Xero has its own separated spreadsheet to keep the record or, ideally, import into the CTR's franking account.
Currently we have to use third party software to keep track of the franking account, and I have seen some of the tools can import from ATO Portal too via csv / pdf.

Sync Email address' from Xero Tax Return to ATO Portal
Clients are constantly having issues receiving notifications of their PAYG statement. The clients who do not receive a notification (neither do we for our client) are the clients who have the ATO channel as "ATO Online" listed in the Client Communication (on the ATO portal). I have been on the phone countless times with ATO about this "Channel" and it is concluded that this does not go anywhere. To stop this, we have had to manually update the client's communication preference to email, or call through to the ATO again and have it changed to paper.
I was hoping there…

NZ Tax - IR10 Report Code Description
Within the report code descriptions, identifying which IR10 Key Point for NZ tax the report code will feed through to.
E.g.
Non-deductible entertainment will go to "Box/Key Point 24 - Other Expenses" and "Box 28 Tax Adjustments"This will give a little bit more visibility as to where each item will end up, particularly for the balance sheet.
If you can segregate this visibility to NZ only files as well, that would be beneficial for other countries not getting information not relevant for them.
3 votesHi David, thank you for the suggestion to add descriptions identifying the IR10 Key Point will feed through to. We will move this idea to submitted for other users to add their support and comments to.
In the meantime, the IR10 and AIM mapping from Xero to Practice Manager support article is a useful resource which contains information on how the fields are mapped.

AU Tax - Return status
It would be great to have two additional tax return status values, to more efficiently support the typical workflows of busy tax agents.
Waiting on information - return cannot progress until the client provides missing info.
Rejected - return has failed review and requires adjustment before it can be lodged.

NZ Tax - Comparative Report for prior year
There should be a comparative report available for New Zealand tax returns. This already exists for Australian tax returns. It is an excellent feature that really assists with preparing returns and avoiding missing details from prior years. I would love to see this feature available for New Zealand tax returns. Thank you.

NZ Tax - Show the % RWT/DWT/ICA rate in tax statement worksheet/ Use of money interest
It would be good to see the tax rate deducted for RWT/DWT/ICA for interest and dividends when printed on the tax statements worksheet/schedules. Then you can see that the information has been entered correctly (ie 33% for tax on dividends)
Also be better to have use of money interest adding into the terminal tax date in the tax payment summary showing total payable, rather than a sentence above it!1 vote -
XPM - Ability to stop payment letters from being generated for non clients
Hi,
Would be great if we had the ability to stop provisional tax letters being generated for non-clients if their IRD numbers are entered into XPM. This creates a lot more work during prov tax times as the list is long and needs to be reviewed so these letters are not accidently sent.

AU Tax | Cover letter - Add Title placeholder
Need a placeholder for title (Mr/Ms etc) for cover letters. It should be an easy implementation, as tax returns should already have that as a label. We need it for the address section of the cover letter.

Xero Tax(AU) | Hiding TFN - Also hide TFN in Distribution Income Section
In Individual income tax returns, where an individual received a trust distribution, the trust name appears to show the Trust's TFN in the name in the trust distribution income section. It will be great if the hiding TFN feature includes the hiding of TFN in this distribution income section as well.

AU Tax - Bulk create tax returns
Every year we have to manually create tax returns for each client - would be great if the client is listed as an existing client on both XPM and ATO that XPM can bulk create the tax returns for that relevant year run. This would cut down a lot of admin time.

AU Tax - Update Contact default to Tax agent/Practice name
For the first year of using Xero Tax, as the returns are new and have not been rolled over from a prior year, the contact name defaults to the Job Manager in the Xero Tax Return. There should be an option to adjust the contact default across the practice so that the Tax Agent/Practice name appears on the tax return not the job manager. There are some clients who would be upset seeing an unfamiliar name on their tax return. At present, the only way to change the contact name showing on the tax return is to manually adjust each…

Xero Tax (UK) | Prevent the auto-reversal of negative balances so we can offset debtors and creditors where necessary
This is not a simple feature request. This is a blatant fault with how Xero Tax handles asset figures.
In this particular case we have two accounts in the book-keeping records for CIS tax, because we wish to track CIS deducted by contracted on sales and CIS deducted from subcontractors separately. Transfers are made between the accounts as appropriate when liabilities are reported for payment to HMRC.
At the year end, we want to show this as a single balance. As the net result was an asset at the year end, we tagged both to an appropriate asset type. Instead…
52 votesAppreciate your input here, everyone. Our team is aware of the challenges our partners are facing around the auto-reversal of negative balance. It’s on their roadmap to investigate and provide a better user experience.
For the time being, I’ll move this idea into ‘Under review’ status. And when there's movement, we'll make sure to come back here and let you all know.
