Xero Tax (UK) | Prevent the auto-reversal of negative balances so we can offset debtors and creditors where necessary
This is not a simple feature request. This is a blatant fault with how Xero Tax handles asset figures.
In this particular case we have two accounts in the book-keeping records for CIS tax, because we wish to track CIS deducted by contracted on sales and CIS deducted from subcontractors separately. Transfers are made between the accounts as appropriate when liabilities are reported for payment to HMRC.
At the year end, we want to show this as a single balance. As the net result was an asset at the year end, we tagged both to an appropriate asset type. Instead…
52 votesAppreciate your input here, everyone. Our team is aware of the challenges our partners are facing around the auto-reversal of negative balance. It’s on their roadmap to investigate and provide a better user experience.
For the time being, I’ll move this idea into ‘Under review’ status. And when there's movement, we'll make sure to come back here and let you all know. -

BAS - Make Finalise BAS the default option
It's great that there is now the option to finalise and create a bill on a BAS...however that is not the default choice for Tax & BAS Agents so it would be nice if the big button was to FINALISE the BAS and the small button with the option to create the bill. Leave it as default in the linked to ATO BAS (lodge and create bill) but for BAS that aren't being lodged in Xero directly it's not helpful.

AU Tax - Consistent rollover of percentages in individual deductions
There is a difference in functionality between D5 and D8 in the AU individual tax return form. When deductions are entered in D5, the default deductible percentage is 100%, and whatever percentage is entered here (eg 40% phone) is rolled over when the tax return rolls over to the next year.
In D8, the default deductible percentage is 0% (inconsistent with D5, easy to miss when quickly completing a tax return, requires you to manually type '100%' every line item - why would you enter a 0% deduction?) and the manually entered percentage does not roll over to the next…

Xero Tax(NZ) - Losses carried forward
Losses carried forward have to be manually entered into XPM tax each year. It would be great if the information flowed through automatically from the tax return so that all we have to do is confirm it matches the IRD assessment. At a minimum it would be great if the losses to carry forward figure from 2023 automatically rolled forward to 2024 once it has been confirmed.

UK Personal Tax | Include top slicing relief on schedules of data
Please can you include the workings (which are long and complicated) for top slicing relief on an insurance bond gain in the "schedule of data" report which I find to be very basic compared to what my previous tax software provider included. Otherwise it is fiddly and time consuming to check this manually.
1 voteThanks for your feedback and sharing with us through the idea here, Zoë.
It'll be good to get a gauge of the community support through your idea here. We don't have any plans for adding top slicing relief on an insurance bond gain atm, but we'll share if there are any changes for this made.

AU Tax - Tax return labels on ATO prefilling summary
ATO prefilling summary to include column displaying relevant Tax Return Label next to prefill information
Example (Individual Tax Return - Bank Interest)
Gross Interest $x,*** Label 10LExample (Managed Funds Distributions)
Non primary production income amount $x,*** Label 13UCurrently the ATO prefilling summary does not show the Tax Return Label which information will be prefilled into. Inclusion of Labels will make reconciliation between prefilling and Tax Return easier.

AU Tax - Remove 0 in managed funds pre-fill from ATO
We have noticed an error, where, when managed fund distributions are prefilled from the ATO, a zero is put in the Item 24 - Other Income
This causes an error for each managed fund prefill that needs to be manually fixed by going in and deleting that entry in the schedule.
I just recently had a client with 15+ managed fund imports (owned jointly with his wife, so same issue on her side) which meant I had to waste quite a bit of time going into each schedule, only to delete the zero at the bottom.
If you could arrange…
66 votesThanks for your interest and sharing with us through this idea, everyone. We appreciate how this change in the pre-fill could improve your use of Xero Tax, and this is something our teams are currently working to solve. I'll be back to share once this is complete.

Xero Tax (UK) - Allow accounts to be signed by current directors rather than those in place during the year.
Imagine that the worst has happened and the entire board of directors were eaten by sharks on the first day after the year end.
Currently Xero Tax pulls the list of Directors from Companies House for the year in question, so
while new directors could be appointed, none of them would be selectable to sign the Director's Report or Balance Sheet in Xero Tax. On the other hand we would be able to select Directors to sign the accounts who in this hypothetical situation were busy being fish food. Please change the signatories so it selects from current Directors at…
3 votesThanks for raising this, please do look out for the sharks! Atm, Xero Tax pulls the information at the date the filing is created so providing they're directors at that date, they should be included in the company information we receive back.
This'll include all active directors, whether they're appointed in the year of afterwards.
However, we're planning to improve this to offer more flexibility around the Directors information, including improving the format of the names themselves. We'll be in touch when we have more detail to share.

Xero Tax(AU ) | Business Schedule - Individual Worksheets
We have some clients that have multiple businesses under their personal names. Can we please have individual worksheets for each business to input income and expenses which then automatically totals into the business schedule in the main form?
At the moment in XERO tax, we need to put the grand totals into the business schedule, then split the amounts across the businesses for each expense/income line item. This is not practical as we generally receive separate figures for each business, not a grand total.

Xero Tax XPM - calculate the estimated PAYG instalment payable in SMSF Tax Returns
It would be good if Xero Tax calculated the estimated PAYG instalment payable in SMSF Tax Returns as we use this to inform our clients of what amounts they are up for in the new financial year, a very important piece of information for them to consider re timing and amount of cashflow outgoings. Xero Tax does it for individuals so not sure how difficult it would be to make it apply for all entities subject to the PAYG Instalment system.

NZ Tax - List view of all open Client Tax Returns
I would like a tax screen similar to the jobs, where I can see clients tax return status, taxes owing and overdue returns. It would be useful to have the option to update a client's return to show as not required or Auto Assess.
