Thanks for the feedback here, everyone. We get how being able to use custom Excel templates for Workpapers could save you time and power up your use of Xero Workpapers.
Currently, you can export Workpapers data to Excel and then copy info into your preferred template. Allowing you to continue using your custom templates for now.
The good news is we're delivering a new Workpapers solution, and our team are exploring how to enable this functionality within this.
We'll post an update as soon as we have any news to share.

I'm excited to share a major update that addresses this feedback directly. At Xerocon in September 2025, we announced a new strategic partnership with BGL, a leader in compliance and practice software. Together, we are building a new, deeply integrated Workpapers solution that will be embedded directly within Xero Practice Manager (XPM) and Xero Tax. This new solution is central to our compliance and practice tools roadmap and is designed to provide a seamless experience, leveraging BGL’s expertise in document management. We are pleased to confirm that the ability to add, rename, and reorder supporting documents is a key feature of this new BGL-powered Workpapers solution. This functionality is already available in BGL’s core product, which forms the foundation of our new offering. Thanks so much for everyone's support in this idea. I'm excited to share we have good news! The team's been working hard on a brand new Workpapers solution where you'll be able to highlight accounts that need attention. 😊
New Workpapers offers a seamless compliance workflow, making it easy to identify discrepancies with a rich working trial balance and in-built collaboration.
Starting to rollout in Australia, and we'll be following with release to other regions in 2026. We'll be sure to keep you updated on the progress here as we get closer to the release dates for other regions.

Hey everyone, thanks for engaging with this idea about being able to attach PDF bank or credit card statements directly to reconciliation reports in Xero. We know this can help simplify the cross-check process.
Right now there is the ability to upload statements into the Files inbox where you could create a dedicated folder for these type of files. However we understand the limitation in that this doesn't link them to report as you'd like here.
Our product team are looking into possible ways to attach files within the banking space and how we might fit it into the reconciliation workflow. It’s early days, and we’ll share an update when there's more news.

Thanks for sharing this idea. We recognise that native partial-exemption calculations are a known gap in Xero, particularly for businesses that make both taxable and exempt supplies.
We’re moving this idea to Accepted to reflect that. It isn’t currently on our roadmap, but we’ll continue to track interest and consider it as part of our longer-term planning.
In the meantime, partial-exemption adjustments can be calculated manually and entered on the VAT return.
