Xero always claims its Product Development Team listens, however, it is clearly not the case.

A Product Development Team that designs and develops an accounting software without a foreign currency batch is gravely unaware of basic user functionalities of accountants and bookkeepers.

A Product Development Team does not need to milk their brains to develop good user functionality modules, it just requires them to look around in the market and check the fantastic products competition has. Unfortunately, they prefer to remain secluded in their cocoons...

As an accounting and bookkeeping services company, though we had previously adopted Xero as our exclusive software partner about 5 years ago, for the last 2+ years, we have been onboarding new clients to different accounting solutions given that Xero is not evolving in the direction that suits basic operational needs of a business like ours.

We all need those Einstein software developers at Xero and their Managers (who obviously had never worked in accounting themselves) to listen once and for good and to accept developing proper core user functionalities instead of wasting their time on silly cosmetic gimmicks for iPhone and Android.

Unfortunately, they are quite resiliently obstinate, it has been almost 5 years now and they are still refusing to do it.

Xero, unlike other similar accounting software, lacks a very important and BASIC functionality of enabling users to record batch payments of foreign currency invoices or bills in 1 step and asks the user to copy the full invoice amount when it can be simply "ticked"

Currently, an "Overpayment" entry needs to be recorded then applied by copying the invoices / bills amounts into the fields on the right hand side of the payment application screen.

    Drawbacks:
    1. It is time consuming for bookkeepers as it has to be done in a 2-step process instead of 1 step
    2. The user functionality in Xero is awkwardly called "Overpayment" (should not be named as such as there is NO OVERPAYMENT whatsoever),it should be simply called a "Batch Payment" as it is

Unfortunately, the Xero Product Development Team is worse than QuickBooks', they are living in the clouds while continuously working on silly useless cosmetic gimmicks for iPads, iPhones and Android phones whereas all the bookkeeping tasks are usually done on computers, not on those hand held devices.
It is very obvious that the Xero Product Development Team members have never worked as accountants, the simple proof is their creation of a batch payment function only for the functional currency (!?) and not for foreign currencies which is ridiculous. Besides, we waste time with our clients trying to explain to them the absurd "Overpayment" description on statements of account when there are no overpayments by clients or to suppliers.

We as an accounting services company have stopped long ago migrating clients to Xero and have adopted Sage as our core accounting software solution, Sage is by far more powerful and by far a better designed accounting software at all levels, besides Sage people are close to their clients in the market, THEY LISTEN whereas Xero does not (though they say the opposite). They are a hopeless case...
