Just wanted to touch base regarding this idea as it's been a while since we've posted an update.
We've reviewed the votes and comments of the community and have updated the status to Gaining Support.
Whilst this isn't currently on our product team's roadmap, we're monitoring the activity on this idea and will keep you updated as the idea gains support.

Further, when a return is rejected by the ATO and appears in the Error tab of the Returns section of Xero Tax, an email should be triggered to alert the tax agent so that the error can be actioned immediately.

We can see you raised this a little while ago, so wanted to touch base with an update. We can see that this idea has been steadily gaining support, so have updated the status accordingly.
It's also useful to note that there may be a few changes to superannuation in Xero with the ATO's upcoming PayDay Super changes rolling out in July 2026.
This means superannuation is firmly on our product team road map. They will be updating payroll customers about the changes in the coming months.

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on customising the “Reply-To” email address which payslips are sent. We appreciate you sharing how important it is to have control over the reply-to address, considering sometimes bookkeepers process payroll.
As you’re aware Xero has the functionality to set a default reply-to email address for some emails, however this doesn't extend to payslips.
Our product team sees merit in the idea for future development. We’ll update the status of this to Accepted so that it’s formally marked for consideration.

It would be best to have a reply to email so that bookkeepers don't get payroll questions directly, but rather than be filtered through the business first.

Thanks for the great discussion and all the votes on this idea. We know that without the ability to set specific leave approvers, it can be harder to keep governance clear, avoid self-approval and ensure requests go to the right person.
While we’re not planning to develop dedicated approval workflows in the near term, we want to share a tip that many have found useful. You can help streamline the process by guiding employees to select their direct manager from the approver list. While all payroll admins and leave approvers are listed, this step helps make sure requests reach the right person and keeps oversight clear.
Your feedback here is incredibly valuable for future planning and we’ll continue to keep an eye on this idea’s traction. We’ll keep it open for voting and will share any updates if plans change down the track.

Having just had to update the pay items for yet another client because our newer team members are not across this, it's absolutely critical that the default be changed to Reportable as W1 for Earnings.
