Hi everyone, we appreciate all your feedback on how we could evolve roles for customers using Xero. As you can see through the ideas on the platform, there are a wide range of combinations of permissions our customers want to see us build. As user roles impact all areas of the product, there are many considerations we must factor in when assessing how to solve for majority of our customers needs.
We’re beginning to conduct research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. Front footing this, the discovery of this work will be long winded and there will be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.
We’d like to invite you, our community to be part of this research and discovery. The access levels and permissions are all over the place! I need a member of staff to reconcile certain bank accounts, but not all of them and not to see the current balance of accounts (and everyone's wages!) yet that's not remotely possible without giving out full access. Sort it our Xero.

An error occurred while saving the comment James Thurlow-Craig commentedSeems, just like on every other feature request, we have all been talking amongst ourselves for years. Xero couldn’t care less.
I had a good laugh when the new CEO sent a message out to say how she’s going to specifically focus on user feedback and what the client base wants.
Anybody know her email? We should all start forwarding these requests directly to her.
Any major software developers should be using these forums for creating a new platform!
An error occurred while saving the comment James Thurlow-Craig commentedThis is vital - a second reference field will allow us to complete our auto matching process with the Invoices which our suppliers send us. It would also mean we can then actually use the remittance emails. At the moment we have to manually send remittances using a spreadsheet because we are using the Reference field for our own internal reference.

Anyone wondering if Xero will implement this... this thread is only a year old, so based on other critical requests from customers, we're probably looking at this being implemented by 2032 soonest.
