    Thanks for sharing and showing interest in how we can develop user roles to suit your needs when using Xero. 

    With many varying ideas for roles and permissions in different areas of our products, user roles impact all areas of the product. There are many factors we must consider when addressing how to solve for majority of our customers needs.

    We’re in the process of conducting research on the current landscape and how we might approach some of the most predominant needs in roles for our customers. This being one of our highest voted ideas surrounding roles is a specific focus for the team. too. 

    Discovery of this work is its first stages and will be long running. There will be multiple phases of research and forms of engagement with users that’ll help shape the path ahead in this space.

    The fact Xero is keeping quiet shows there is Zero intention of making what would be such a simple change. But we will all stay with them regardless so they win I guess. If there was a mass exodus then their hand would be forced. Oh well.

    Surely this can’t just be an oversight on their part so have to believe there is a much bigger reason why it can’t be implemented. Would be nice if a Xero rep actually responded otherwise no point in having these forums at all.

    There needs to be an option under standard user to tick/untick bank account feed access. I have a staff member who needs invoice and purchase order access as well as seeing on our dashboard sales for the month by customer group which we've set up - but I can't have her seeing bank feeds which show highly personal information like salaries. I can't understand why this is not available, makes no sense to me.

    We thank you all for sharing in the idea here, and understand there are many permissions that our Xero customers would like to provide on a more incremental basis. As you'll all know access to bank accounts is available to users with Adviser, Standard or limited access to those with Read Only roles - You can see more of the breakdown in our article here

    With much of the teams resource drawn to work on the platform that'll continue to help us with the 'building on beautiful' experience for our customers we want to be upfront that there are no direct plans for altering the user permissions in this space just yet.

    User roles and individual permissions within a bank account will be in the limelight once much of the platform upgrades are complete, but this is some way off atm. We'll return to share when there's any…
