Hey everyone, we thank you for the detailed feedback on improving how leave requests work for part-time employees in Australian payroll.
We understand the value of shifting the task of adjusting hours to employees, freeing up payroll administrators’ time for other priorities and we also appreciate the points raised around accuracy and compliance.
While we don’t have current plans to deliver exactly what’s been suggested here, our product team is continuing to focus on developing working patterns within AU Payroll. Based on what we’ve seen in other regions, this'll likely address many of the needs discussed here.
We’ll move this idea to Not in pipeline for now, but we’ll keep you posted on any updates that could help achieve what’s being asked.

This hasn't affected me until now. A staff member simply needed to enter 33 hours but Xero would only allow her to pick days which meant the leave request came through as 30.4 hours. This is more admin and checks required by the person processing payroll so it would be handy if there was an option to just add hours aswell.

I have only just realised that personal leave is being disaggregated in Xero.
We tick in the industry and tool allowances to contribute to annual leave rate and that works well so I don't understand why Xero is not also having a box in the allowance set up to contribute to personal leave rate also. If STP2 doesn't require or allow personal leave to be disaggregated then reporting will be incorrect, unless the user realises and then manually adjusts each time personal leave is included in a pay run. STP2 compliance matters are urgent matters, not really something for a feature request.

Xero is my preferred software, however, after working in another software for some contract work, I found it super efficient that the bank transactions screen has a dropdown to allow the user to choose - a single bank account or all bank accounts and it really does help with efficiently searching an amount or description within a date range.
It also has the option to narrow the search further by selecting from a dropdown - 1. Allocated feeds, 2. Unallocated feeds or 3. All transactions (including a column for bank account name and if it is allocated or not). It makes the viewing of transfers between bank accounts very clear and the transactions can be reconciled/matched from that screen or transfers created from that screen. If transfer is selected, the other side automatically reconciles.
Now that we are seeing improvements to the bank feed in Xero, I really hope Xero can enhance this further. I really need one search screen that offer the option to see allocated and/or unallocated transactions covering all bank accounts.
It is important, Xero's new instructions indicate to just treat as a reimbursement.

Below is from the link, incase the link breaks in the future.
Reimbursements
Out-of-pocket or other expenses you reimburse employees for, such as tool allowances, mileage expenses, travel allowances or non-reportable allowances.
Some non-reportable amounts are:
Living away from home allowance (LAFHA) fringe benefit
Travel allowance equal to or below the ATO’s reasonable amount
Overtime meal allowance below the ATO’s reasonable amount
Post tax deductions, except for those you need to separately identify
To determine whether an amount is non-reportable, use the guide to paying allowances (ATO website).
