Hi guys, great to hear this is happening. I agree with the comments below; we have a couple of team members on 9-day fortnights, and we do pay run on a fortnightly basis.

This is great news however I would also like to see it support a two-week working pattern as we pay fortnightly and staff often have different work patterns on the first week compared to the second week.

This is fantastic news and a much-needed improvement for AU Payroll. Thank you for listening to customer feedback and working on a solution.

One request from our side would be to please consider supporting a two-week working pattern, rather than limiting it to a single week.

We process payroll fortnightly, and a large proportion of our part-time employees do not work the same pattern every week. For example:

Some employees work 0.9 FTE, where Week 1 is a full Monday to Friday schedule, and Week 2 is only four days.
Other employees work different hours and even different days between Week 1 and Week 2.

If the system only supports a one-week pattern, these employees would still require manual adjustments for leave requests, public holidays, and payroll calculations, which is the exact challenge many of us are currently trying to overcome.

A two-week pattern would align much better with a fortnightly pay cycle and would cover a significant number of real-world part-time arrangements without requiring ongoing manual intervention.

Please don't limit the functionality to a single-week pattern if possible. A two-week pattern would make this feature much more practical and valuable for many organisations.

This feature is available within the UK and NZ (i believe) systems, but not Australia? Given the back end software development work has already been done for those countries, surely Xero can speed up the introduction of this feature for Australian customers? It has been highly requested for many years.

This function needs to be addressed to streamline payroll processing.

Please allow employees to enter the hours they are taking each day in a multi-day leave request.

This is a such a clunky glitch in Xero. I have an employee who we have work 8hr days 4 days a week and every time she submits leave or there is a public holiday it reverts it to 6hrs a day so we have amend it manually every time.

As the business grow it gets pretty clunky for parttime staff to not to bale to select the correct hours. It can get tricky if someone have to apply for part day leave. Vary basic function to have for staff to apply for leave corretly.

wow - seems crazy that Xero would ignore the needs of its community like this? Such a basic need for workplaces everywhere. Please fix this asap!!

This hasn't affected me until now. A staff member simply needed to enter 33 hours but Xero would only allow her to pick days which meant the leave request came through as 30.4 hours. This is more admin and checks required by the person processing payroll so it would be handy if there was an option to just add hours aswell.

I can see here pages and pages of requests for Xero to have a function that allows employees to edit hours over multiple days. However, the response from Xero is still that there are no direct plans to develop this option. Why? I can't rollout Xero me to employees unless this is an option. There is an audit issue in having approvers edit hours requested by employees. This would be the case in every leave application over 1 day. Can Xero reconsider adding this option as a matter of priority. Thank you.

Employees should be able to submit hours within multiple days and not by payroll admin to adjust. As this could then cause legal issues for employers.

For any part time employees submitting multiple days of leave, they should be able to enter the hours of leave they will be taking as well as the date range. The approver should not have to adjust the hours every time an approval is required.

Part-time employees. It would be good if there was an area in Xero that you could enter in the standard work day hours for each employee. E.g 7.6 hours. So if the employee is part-time and works 30.4hours per week, Xero will know this equates to 4 days per week. This would flow through to leave and public holidays, Xero will know a day is 7.6 hours and automatically populate this in the payroll. No manually entering required. Is this possible?

Would be good to have default employee days if they are a permanent part-time without having to rely on a weekly roster etc, and then Xero can just look at that automatically assign the right hours.

We have a part time employee who works 5 hours 12 minutes per day x 5 days
When she submits leave via the Xero Me app, if she puts in multiple days eg Monday 19 Feb to Wed 21 Feb it will calculate her leave as 3 full days instead of 3 x 5.2 hours.

We have another employee who works 4 full days and one half day on Fridays
If she submits leave that includes a Friday it calculates the Friday as a full day of leave instead of half a day.

It would be great if Xero would allow customised hours to be set up for part time employees.

We have an employee working 4 x 8 hour days and the accruals aren't working how they should be.

Xero should factor in part time employees.

Payroll staff shouldn't have to manually adjust the hours on leave because Xero doesn't work properly.

Even just retaining the same feature that a one-day leave request has - which is, to include the total hours being requested - would be great.

Being able to customise the shift lengths that each worker does on each day of the week would be an absolute sanity saver for our team! We have 23 staff who work anything from 3.25 to 9.5hr shifts, so you can imagine how painful putting leave requests through for our Xmas close has been!! If we could specify worker X does 5hrs on Mondays and 9.25hrs on Tuesdays, while worker Y works 7hrs on Tuesdays and 8.5hrs on each of Wednesdays to Fridays, we'd be so grateful!!!
