Thanks for sharing your thoughts and adding your vote to this idea! We totally get how important it is to keep your customer contact info accurate and up to date. An automatic update feature through invoicing sounds like a great way to save you some valuable time.
Right now, if you send an invoice to an email that’s not already linked to a contact, you’ll need to add that email manually in Xero. The current setup is designed to be flexible so you can send invoices to multiple emails without changing the contact record. But we can definitely see how this feature would speed things up for you.
This idea is now in the “Gaining Support” phase, which means it’s open for votes and comments. We’re keeping an eye on how much interest it gets from the community. Your vote really helps us understand how much this feature matters to…

For those interested in a fix to this, Paidnice (a Xero app) has just released the capability to roll up child customer invoices to a parent on top of Xero. More info here: https://www.paidnice.com/blog/xero-parent-child-customers-consolidated-statements

Hi everyone, we thoroughly appreciate everyone’s interest and support for enabling the ability to apply a prompt payment discount to invoices.
We understand how a direct prompt payment discount feature would improve the efficiency and automate manual efforts currently involved for you all here, but would like to be transparent that this isn’t something we’ve been able to roadmap atm.
Right now, one way to indicate that your business accepts or will apply a discount for prompt payment would be to write this into the invoice payment terms. When acted on there are a few ways you could consider recording this in Xero, such as;
- Edit the invoice to apply a discount directly
- Edit the invoice to add a negative line that directly draws down the total amount of the invoice
- Apply a credit to the invoice for the portion of the discount
We'd recommend connecting with your Xero advisor…

Hi team, we appreciate the on-going support and feedback we're receiving on this idea and pleased to be able to share this update. Our product team are actively exploring how we can best solve for the needs raised here, although at this time are unable to provide any set timeframes.
They are very much aware of the appetite from our community on this, and as part of their exploration have reached out some users here as they gather insights.
For the time being we'll shift to In discovery and I'll return as soon as there is more on this to share.

In the meantime, it could be worth checking out dedicated Xero apps made to solve this problem for sending from your own domain such as https://apps.xero.com/app/paidnice

A good way to stop Xero invoices going to spam is by using Paidnice to send them instead: https://www.paidnice.com/schedule-custom-invoice-sends (from your own domain, and with custom branding)

While it doesn't sound like Xero will be implementing a feature like this in the short term, I wanted to add to this thread that Paidnice (https://paidnice.com/) has built this functionality that can solve this need for you (and it wont break the bank either from $19 a month)
- Fully customize sender details so emails like payment reminders, overdue notices, invoices etc appear from @yourcompany.com with your logo, colors and styling.
- Paidnice also attaches the PDF of the original invoice from Xero.
- Add a calendar invite as an attachment, for the invoice due date (including link to the original invoice)
- Automatically add late fees or interest, issued as a new invoice or added to the existing invoice line item.Hopefully it helps! (Disclaimer: I built Paidnice)

Hi community, we understand how being able to send quote reminders like you can for invoices, would help with following up on uncommitted work with your customers and potentially locking in sales.
For the time being, as many will be aware you can resend a quote that’s already been sent, by clicking the 3 dot menu in the top right and choosing ‘Send’, where you’ll have the option to change the email and who it’s being addressed to.
This is something we have intentions of diving into discovery for this year and I’ll return to share more news when things progress. Thanks

Hi Alfred, we build this into our custom reminders feature at Paidnice, our reminders let you use your own domain/email, logo and can include the PDF (and even a calendar invite for when the invoice is due) could this help you solve the issue? https://www.paidnice.com/invoice-reminders

We hear you team! Thank you for continuing to share back with us here, and a big thanks to those that registered interest and provided input to the teams earlier research.
Right now, there's still some discovery going on around this functionality, but I want to assure you this is a feature our team are keen to develop.
While the first round of research helped inform our team they want to dive deeper into some of the aspects surrounding this feature that'll help ensure we create a solution that'll best fit majority of businesses.
We'd like to give provide the opportunity to everyone here to participate in this and if you can spare a few minutes, our team have prepared a few questions in this form 📝 that we'd love your feedback on.
We want to keep you updated as work progresses on this, and I'll be back to share…

While Xero doesn't support this natively if you can afford an extra 3rd party app. Paidnice (https://paidnice.com/) supports invoice reminders for email + SMS. It can handle all the uses you have outlined below Caz..

Hi everyone, a year on from my last engagement we wanted to provide an update for you all here.
As many will be across we're in the midst of making a lot of iterations and improvements to new invoicing leading up to the retirement of classic invoicing in September (2024).
We have a fair amount of work lined up in the teams schedule over the coming months and to give an indication there isn't any committed plans around a function to add interest to invoices.
That said, we do have a team that have picked up and are considering how we might solve this with the technology in new invoicing - It's early days on this yet, but I'll share if there's any progress on this for you all here.
In the meantime, as has been shared by others over time there are a few ways you could accomplish this…

While Xero doesn't natively support this, 3rd party apps have picked up this challenge, apps like Paidnice (https://paidnice.com/) look to work well to add interest to late invoices, including taking into account credit against them.

Hey Alison,
Jumping in here as we (Paidnice, formerly Latechaser) are helping to fill the gap left here as a 3rd party Xero App, that will add late fees and interest to your Xero invoices.
More info here: https://www.paidnice.com/xero
Or our app listing here: https://apps.xero.com/app/paidniceThanks,
Denym
We built a quick fix for this inside our credit control tool, which lets you choose which email contacts receive reminders, statements and late fees etc so the right person gets chased even when the contact card email is missing or out of date https://www.paidnice.com/
