This is a bit backwards to the intention of what spend money transactions are designed for, Kevin.
Is there a reason reconciling the payment as a prepayment couldn't work for you here? This way when the bill is received and entered in your org you can allocate all the credit from those prepayments to the single bill without remove & redo.

I have uploaded pictures images of receipts via the xero app but they are not attached to the transactions despite me doing that which means I cannot reclaim UK VAT. Having deleted files avaialble to restore (even if for 1 month after deletion) would be a very useful feature

Allowing received money to be allocated to a project without an invoice is imperative in order for project costings to be accurate

The purpose of repeating invoices is to save time and improve efficiency. To then have to go back to each invoice to assign it to a project wastes time and reduces efficiency so please make it possible to assign projects to repeating invoices.
