Hi all, thanks for feeding back on the ways you work with invoicing and what you'd like to see with new invoicing in Xero.

Our team are reviewing the flow when copying an invoice and having the contact name automatically populate.

In the way this currently works, once you add a contact to the new(copied) invoice any defaults you've applied to a contacts record will then be applied to the invoice. This flow of default application is something the team will consider as part of their review and what works best for majority of users.

Thanks for all your feedback here, everyone. The way you add description only lines in new invoicing is a little different to classic and we wanted to explain in hopes it'll help with how you're using new invoicing.
When entering a description only line, you can enter text in the description field of the line. If you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you will need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate.
When an inventory item is added this uses the item code field and the line is treated as 'financial', so it's not possible to use inventory items as description only lines in new invoicing atm.
We appreciate this is how many of you here have been making use of inventory and our product team are closely monitoring the feedback we're getting on this. Though we don't…

Agreed. It’s nice having auto save but how do I abort or cancel incorrect changes. Either have a undo or just don’t bother with new invoicing. We hate it.

Hi community, we've released our first update to history and notes of new invoicing, where you can now view more detail of changes such as where an issue or due date has been altered or the amount of your invoice is changed. There's more improvements for this space coming soon and I'll keep you up to date with these, here.

Many of my Suppliers get confused with which of their Invoices my company has paid and which we have not. Occasionally we also make a mistake and pay too much, and then it is very hard to prove to them that they owe us credit.

Whilst we always pay in the same currency as the invoice, the same Supplier may invoice in USD as well as our Default currency.

So to be able to prove to them every transaction that has taken place is a critical requirement for the business..

Thanks for your feedback, Christine. Appreciate how this could help though I want to be upfront that we don't have plans for changing this atm.

It would help in passing on your feedback to the right team to know if there is a specific area in Xero that you'd most commonly view the balance owing to your supplier - e.g would this be within their contact record, or do you run a particular report to view multiple supplier balances at once?
