Thanks everyone. We appreciate the thinking behind wanting to restrict which earnings rates employees can choose when they fill out a timesheet.
Since this idea was first raised we’ve made a small update - You can now assign earnings rates to employees and these'll appear first in the Xero Me app when an employee enters a timesheet. Just a heads-up that any other earnings rates will still show underneath and can still be selected.
As we continue to develop Xero Payroll in Australia this is something our product team have been keeping a close eye on. We’re planning work that’d let employees select only the earnings types in their Pay Template or the default rate from their employee record.
When this work moves forward I’ll come back here and share an update with you all. 🙂

Hi everyone, thanks for your contributions to this idea. We appreciate your feedback about the challenges in ensuring all billable costs are recovered, and your desire for an improved experience.
As noted by others in the idea, there are some features that will give some visibility of billable expenses at present.
- You can 'View bills not assigned to projects', and
- there is the Outstanding billable expense report as some have shared which shows outstanding items you've assigned as billable to customers
Understanding the value more visibility of unassigned bills would have for customers, this is something we’ll continue to review in future planning but isn’t in the current roadmap. We'll be sure to update you all if this gets picked up.

please hurry up and sort this - you can see what bills are not allocated to a project, you can see which bills are assigned but not invoices - so why cant you see what bills are not assigned to a customer / contact ?!

Thank you for sharing your feedback and voting on the idea here, community. While we've reviewed this idea and appreciate the needs in what you're wanting here, we want to be open that we don't have any plans for developing a billable expenses report of this nature in the near term.
We will continue to track the interest here, and share if anything changes.

This is a critical feature for our business as we need a way to check that any expenses that should have been allocated to a customer, are on an invoice. Have a report called expenses or something where you can select specific code of accounts and then it should have all the transaction details plus a column that is either referencing an invoice number, is 'unassigned' or is blank - I want to make sure we are not missing revenue because we have forgetting to allocate an expense item to a customer.
