Hi everyone, thanks for the interest in this idea.
As you can appreciate, user roles span across the entire Xero product so there’s many combinations of permissions our customers want to see us build. Specifically, our reporting product team is very much aware of the challenges with the current permission sets relating to sharing individual reports with different users and are beginning to look into how we might be able to alleviate some of these reporting challenges.
However, at this stage it’s far too early to anticipate or confirm any direction on where this discovery work will lead, but it will inform our next steps. Additionally, as I'm sure you can appreciate there are sensitivities of data access and security. Creating upgrades to user permissions will need very careful consideration. Due to the pressure from Dept Heads and Management on Finance team to report on a real time basis, if Xero can have a function where we can send a live link to individual Xero reports to Dept Leaders in the company so that they can generate the report at any point of time, it would make a huge impact.
Eg. Creating a report specific to IT and let the IT Dept head able to access the unique report on Xero platform on an real time basis whenever they need to make a decision. The non-finance user dept doesn't need to have Xero login, they just want to view that specific report thru the link that is only given to their email access. Finance team can remove the access anytime from Xero system.

This will not only reduce the reporting deadlines pressure on Finance teams, but letting Finance teams concentrate on making sure the data is up-to-date while removing the unnecessary work/turnaround time of repeated preparation of multiple reports to management on a monthly or adhoc basis.
