Hi Scott, appreciate your feedback of what you find both good and limiting when using Xero.
When you mention the need to create manual journals to bank or cash accounts are there some common situations you find yourself needing this?
For the payroll transaction I wonder if bank rules could help identify and create the transaction in Xero for you, rather than having to enter this as a bill?
Bank rules and the use of spend and receive money through reconciliation may also be able to help for other scenarios too?

I would love this as well! Reconciling to bank statements is so important and absolutely necessary! And with Xero, it only "appears" that the account is reconciled if all transactions are categorized. But we accountants know better!
I hate to say that QuickBooks has a better bank reconciliation process than Xero, but not enough for me to want to use QBO.

Thanks for sharing with us through this idea, everyone. Our product team are now working on adding a column to the chart of accounts screen which will display the report code that each account has been mapped to 😊
We'll shift across to 'working on it', and I'll keep you updated on the news for this, here!

Please add this feature ASAP! My firm just rolled out firm-level customized reports that are amazingly detailed, but all of our hard work isn't easily implemented at the client level. We had to update report codes for each client before the firm-level reports are useful. This also currently requires maintenance and upkeep for any new accounts added, to make sure the report code makes sense. It sound at the very least be mapped intelligently, if we won't have the option to update this ourselves when creating a new account on the COA.
I know someone at Xero spent a lot of time and resources on the firm-level reports, and it would be much more user-friendly with this report code feature added. Seems like a simple thing to add for so much improvement!
Thank you so much!

I agree, saving our decimal preference on published reports shouldn't be something we have to click every time, or make sure my team is clicking to show decimals every time as well.
