   Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your feedback on payroll tracking. We understand some of you want to see gross wages, tax and super broken down by department and timesheet categories.

   In May 2025 we released an update which allows super and leave to be allocated to employee groups, which helps track full wage expenses across departments or cost centre.

   As you’re aware, our timesheet reports can be filtered by tracking categories, however the reports summarise hours rather than a total wage breakdown.

   We've shared this idea with our product team. We really appreciate the feedback however further payroll tracking features are not in the near term roadmap so we'll update the status to Not in Pipeline at this time.

   We’ll continue to monitor your interest and feedback as we plan future improvements to Payroll reporting.

   Agree - need a report that shows Employee Gross Wages, Tax, Super etc by 'Department'.
   Also agree with Cate Coote comment - need to be able to add employees to multiple departments.
   This is a real shortfall of the Xero wage function

   Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback here. It’s great to see so much engagement on this idea, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us.

   We understand you’re looking for the ability to create your own report code structures within Xero that'd allow for more detailed and flexible reporting, helping to automate processes and provide clearer insights for your clients.

   As noted by others in the idea, you can currently leverage the existing report code mapping functionality. While it doesn't allow for entirely new report codes, you can map multiple chart of account codes to the same report codes to group them for reporting. 

   To do this in bulk, you can also export your chart of accounts, apply the mapping in a CSV, and then re-import it. 

   We see the value in providing more customisation in reporting. Right now we have some more codes in the works for the UK - You can stay in the know of new features through our Xero Central Product Releases article and see what's 'coming soon' in the next quarter through The Long and Short of It

   We’re committed to helping you deliver the best service to your clients, however we want to be upfront that creating a fully bespoke solution like what's asked here is not in the pipeline. Should our position change around this we'll update you, here.
