Hi team, we appreciate the on-going support and feedback we're receiving on this idea and pleased to be able to share this update. Our product team are actively exploring how we can best solve for the needs raised here, although at this time are unable to provide any set timeframes.

They are very much aware of the appetite from our community on this, and as part of their exploration have reached out some users here as they gather insights.

For the time being we'll shift to In discovery and I'll return as soon as there is more on this to share.

I own an IT support business, we manage IT and networks for dozens of small businesses in our area. One question I am getting without fail, over and over again, is: "Are there any options for accounting software that aren't Quickbooks?" This email issue is the main thing that keeps me from recommending Xero as it indicates a fundamental lack of understanding by Xero of how basic email security works.

If Xero is this clueless about email, what other security issues are they overlooking?

Mike - nothing Adam said was incorrect; the two of you are referring to two different ways of doing this.
    1) Adam is talking about configuring Xero to send email via a separate SMTP server - this could be a client's own infrastructure or a third party SMTP service (MailGun, SMTP2Go, etc.)
    2) You are referring to having Xero send the emails, but utilizing SPF/DKIM/DMARC to authenticate Xero's servers as authorized sending servers.

I think #1 is a better option. #2 would require Xero to take on added responsibility of keeping their mail server "clean", and I doubt they would want to dedicate resources to this.

    This is still desperately needed.

Hi everyone, our product teams are continuously reviewing and reprioritising their roadmaps for future work and although we don’t have any plans to change the credit application process this year, this is something we will investigate more closely in 2026.

As we begin to explore work for enabling credit notes in the bill payments flow, we’ll reach out for input to help us shape the design and approach so we cater for the widest possible requirements. Thank you all, and we’ll be back to share when exploration starts.

Hi everyone, thanks for your interests and sharing on the idea here. Being totally open, we don't have plans in the near term for any change that'd solve for the idea here. This may be something we consider down the line and will keep the idea here open to continue monitoring.

For the time being, we wanted to share a way you can remove links from the customer statement using a custom branding theme that you'd apply when sending a statement.

Once the new branding theme is created, you can select it when printing or sending the customer statement, and the invoice link will be removed.
