Thanks for your feedback about setting working days for part-time employees, everyone.

We’re pleased to share that working patterns are now in development, with the first release planned for later this year.

You’ll be able to set a one-week work pattern for each employee, which will automatically be used for leave and public holiday calculations in the pay run. For this first release, you’ll still need to update the employee’s pay template separately to reflect their standard working hours.

We plan to build on this by connecting working patterns with standard hours in the pay run and supporting a broader range of working patterns. We’ll share another update as the release gets closer.

Hi everyone, we really appreciate the sentiment and engagement on the idea of being able to forecast leave balances.

We know this feature could make planning ahead and managing leave approvals much easier, but at this stage it’s not something we’re planning to develop in the near term, so we’ll be moving it to 'Not in pipeline'.

We’ll continue to keep an eye on how this idea trends in the community and will leave it open for voting. If our plans change, we’ll share an update here.

This would be so helpful for all staff. I currently have to work this out manually for staff planning leave.

Hi everyone, thanks for your continued feedback about managing working patterns for part-time employees.

We’re pleased to share that we plan to begin rolling out working patterns in AU Payroll later this year.

The first release will allow you to set a one-week work pattern for each employee. This pattern will automatically be used for leave and public holiday calculations in the pay run. At this stage, you’ll still need to update the employee’s pay template separately to reflect their standard working hours.

We plan to build on this foundation by connecting working patterns with standard hours in the pay run and supporting a broader range of working patterns. We’ll share more details as the first release gets closer.

This would be a really helpful feature. Half of our staff are part time and so much of time goes into ensuring that their leave and public holiday hours are calculated correct because Xero averages out the hours rather than having the correct hours calculated. Christmas shutdown periods are always time consuming for this reason. Every leave application needs to be corrected and then the total hours need to be corrected again on the pay run. This feature would be a real time saver!
