AU Payroll - Calculate future leave balances for employees
For permanent employees, all XERO business customers should be able to calculate their future leave balances. This will allow a business owner to know if they can approve the leave or not, or what conversation to have with a team member.
I hope this idea is backed and implemented.

Hi Mitchell
Thanks for getting back in touch.
At this stage there are no immediate plans to work on the projected leave balance feature request.
While I understand this was not the answer you were looking for, I would encourage you to keep checking the product idea link for any updates.
Warmest Regards,
Zoe

I am in support of this 100%. I thought this would've been a standard feature and I would love to see this as an option in Xero Payroll moving forward.

Del Allan commented
Seriously? I'm new to Xero and am shocked that this is not a standard procedure

This is NOT rocket science. We had this in payroll systems back in 1980's !!! Come on Xero, stop focussing on new features you think your customers want and get us what WE actually need and want !!!

This is so critical for payroll!

Such a critical feature that is needed for payroll

I've tried reaching out to Xero through multiple channels and people. No one willing to give a response as to even if this is under consideration or already in the pipeline. Given it annoys every user (being an accountant or an employee just using Xero Me) I'm staggered it isn't already in place.

So many HR/payroll systems already offer this very simple figure, this is a no brainer!

This is an ongoing issue for our business. As we approach the end of the year when most people take leave, I have to undertake numerous manual leave prediction calculations. Staff have also requested this feature as they are used to having it in other workplaces (that don't use Xero).

Have the ability to project leave balances for a future date to assist with leave approvals

Backing up that this would be very helpful for us to help plan leave with employees to ensure they don't venture into unpaid leave territory for leave that is a decent amount of time in the future.
-
Simon O'Connor commented
This would be so very, very useful. It's a little bit maddening that Xero doesn't do it.
The amount of manual calculations we have to do because Xero doesn't handle things is a bit crazy.

I can't see any responses from Xero staff - I'd have thought this would be a very popular feature to include. Not many payroll softwares don't have this.

Forecasting of future dated leave is needed. If employees book future dated leave their balance displays inaccurately.

Can leave requests show future leave balances to assist managers with approval?
-
James Saba commented
Employees using XeroMe can see their current leave balances but if requesting leave for a future date cant see if they will have enough leave accrued at that point - is there a Xero feature for this?
-
Sebastian Ennis commented
It would also be good for staff to request annual leave only when they have the required annual leave balance, preventing staff going into negative leave
-
Tracey Ginnane commented
I agree totally.
Thank you Vanessa for raising this point. I was not aware until I was asked by an employee how much AL they would have accrued by Christmas and i am surprised and disappointed this is not a function already. -
Mel O'Keefe commented
I am surprised this function is not already available. Not only is it an aide for the business planning, but for staff also.
It is a function I used regularly at my former workplace, with a different platform. -
Paul Kimber commented
This is a basic requirement and should be reasonably straight forward to create.
