Hi community, thanks for all your discussion and votes on this idea. We can see the appetite in being able to project future leave balances in AU Payroll. We understand that you're looking for an easier way to see an employee's accrued leave for a future date, which would make planning for things like company shutdowns and approving leave requests simpler.

Our product team has taken a look at this suggestion, however building this functionality isn't on our foreseeable roadmap. For that reason, we'll be changing the status of this idea to ‘Not in Pipeline’. The idea will remain open for votes, so we can continue to gauge interest when we next review our priorities for payroll.

As some have shared - exporting and combining reports outside of Xero is one way to get the information you need, although we understand its not the solution you'd like here.

    We really…

If someone submits a leave request months ahead of their planned leave (which is good and useful for their team to manage projected workflows) then Xero immediately takes this into account so staff may then appear to have a significant negative leave balance. Our protocol is to avoid negative annual leave balances where possible because it's a debt to the business, so we have to manually calculate what they will have accrued by the planned leave date to ensure they are as close to a positive balance as possible. And then if that staff member submits another leave request for time BEFORE their future (previously submitted) leave application they go alarmingly into negative so we have to make additional manual calculations to get the true accrual figure at the leave date/s. Don't even get me started on how we plan for the office shutdown over Christmas... So why, Xero, with all the technology you have at hand why do we still need to whip out the calculator or set up formulae in Excel to manage this??

I agree with all the comments below. XeroMe needs a lot of work and is a surprisingly useless app for this day and age. We encourage our staff (the full timers but particularly the part-timers) to use a hard copy leave form instead of the app. Sort of defeats the purpose of the app but at least we can ensure the leave request details are entered correctly.
