Hi community, thanks for your input and support into this idea for auto updating related journals when an auto-reversing journal is edited.
While the team began to look into work involved, priorities have shifted and this is not something we'll be looking to develop at this time.
We'll move the status back to submitted and keep you informed if there is any movement.

Thanks so much for your continued interest and feedback about how valuable adding a contact to a manual journal would be for you, your business, and clients.
We wanted to share that we’re making good headway in this space. For customers in the US, we’ve now released our new manual journals experience, which lays important foundations for us to build on capabilities like adding contacts to manual journals.
While this specific functionality isn’t available just yet, it's still on the roadmap and is actively being worked through by our product team. We’ll continue to share updates as progress is made.

Hi everyone, we'd like to provide an update as we’ve recently launched the new Manual Journals experience in the US, in which this idea has now been addressed.
From the Manual Journals list, you can toggle the “Show manual journals on a cash basis” setting on or off. This sets the default for all journals you create in that org, and it can also be changed within individual journals.
This is currently available in the US only, but we’re planning to roll it out to other regions soon. I’ll keep this thread updated as it lands in more places.

This would be great for me aswell,
My largest client has 13 accounts reconciled daily, with matched transactions only.
It is too easy to trip over open tabs or continuous scrolling through accounts.
Manual Journals defaulting to Cash makes zero sense for a professional accounting platform. Most journals are, by definition, accruals.
As a Senior Accounts Manager overseeing multiple entities, this is currently a huge headache, especially not having the ability to mass-edit or recode these entries means I’m losing hours manually editing individual journals one by one.
This is a basic feature that has significant implications to the integrity of the accounts.
We need the ability to set the default basis by organisation.
We need the ability to mass edit these Journals.
