Having recently started using Xero for tax payment letters I am rather stunned that this glich hasn't been rectified yet. The problem is IRD numbers are required to be recorded in many circumstances where we don't actually act for a client; eg. we may act for a Trust of which a non-client is a beneficiary and must return their IRD number to IRD when making distributions. Likewise we may act for a Company but not the individual shareholders but need their IRD numbers for dividends.
At least I now know which field is causing the Tax Payment letter to generate - the IRD number field.

Ditto to everything Sarah Schwarz has posted!
With all the other audit trails available in Xero it was quite disappointing to find these missing from Job Manager and we have had to continue using other tracking systems outside Xero.

I agree, we plan for a clients whole provisional tax liability over a tax year, not instalment by instalment. For example at P1 in a provisonal tax year we may already plan for an additional voluntary payment to be made at P3 for a client, but we can't input that in Tax Paymnets in advance, we have to keep a record of it outside of Xero.
It was suggested advance adjustments could be added in the Statements screen, but there does not appear to be functionality to adjust any individual prov payment there, only the entire year's prov.

We had this feature in APS and miss it so much in Xero Tax. You can distribute a percentage in an IR7, why not in an IR6? It is very common for beneficiaries to be distributed all income 50/50 or 25/25/25/25 etc; including tax credits attached. If there are multiple income types all being evenly distributed it can be very painful having to work it all out and type it all in to the return.
